Humph...Me and this Vet guy are getting too close for comfort!
Earlier today, my mama was petting my neck and smooching on me when she got a strange look on her face. She called my dad over and he rubbed my neck too. They did some talking and looking at me. Lots more feeling my neck...then they called that "vet" guy and off we went.
The vet stroked my neck...then ...you are not going to believe this...He got a needle and stuck it in my NECK! They all talked more....Vet left the room for a bit then came back in and gave more pills and other stuff to take home.
Apparently, I have an infected salivary gland. This is caused by chewing on hard object that may have poked me in the mouth. We are suspecting the dreaded Nylabones again...
and so...the saga continues. I have to take the antibiotics and keep my paws crossed that it drains on its own. I swear....March has been a bear! Here's hoping April is a better month!
Such a scary day. It started very early....sometime before 3:00am. I woke up and my tummy HURT bad. I got my mama out of bed and went outside and threw up...over and over and over again. It was dark so mama couldn't see what I was throwing up...she was just scared....and hugging me. We went back into the house...I threw up lots and lots more...this time it was only bile. I tried to eat my breakfast...I threw it up immediately so I got really depressed...cause...I LOVE TO EAT! Mama knew right then...this was serious!
We called the vet, who got us in at 8:00am. He poked, stuck things in areas we won't speak of...asked what I had to eat the night before...just my regular dinner and some hamburger helper? He really believed that was the problem...Humph! He did some more tests, gave my a shot of medicine and said I was dehydrated so he gave me some fluids through a needle into my back...I left feeling worn out, tummy hurt, and I had a hump like a camel. It was a rough morning!
I got home and threw up again...this time a big piece of nylon/rubber came out! Then my mama and dad went outside and looked in the grass...and they were SHOCKED...they found a huge "thing" that was rubber and nylon. They put it in a baggie and weighed it...It was 84 grams!
So here is what happened....I chew the nylabones. When I chew, slivers or tiny pieces come off and I swallow them. These pieces stick together in my stomach and form a mass that grows and grows. My pawrents ALWAYS watch me with my toys...I never am allowed to break off big chunks....They just had no idea this kind of problem could happen.
So...my friends. I am still not completely out of the woods. I did eat my dinner tonight and held it down. THAT is a very good sign. If I do any more throwing up...I will have to go back to the vet for surgery!!!!
PLEASE take up the Nylabones...the risk is just not worth it. Like my new motto says..."More walks...Less Toys!"
