Arrival Story: We started looking for a guardian breed after losing our 13 yr old Great Dane. We came across an ad in the Charlotte Observer for "The Ultimate Guardian." We immediately went to the internet and read everything we could find about the breed before calling the breeder and having a long conversation with her. We made the three hour drive down to the SC/Georgia border just a few days later. We had been warned to stay in the car if big white dogs greeted us on arrival. We did just that and it was our first introduction to this wonderful breed. After the breeder met us at our car and introduced us as friendly to the Kuvaszok (plural of Kuvasz) we went inside to meet the puppies. I believe it was love at first sight when we saw Marika. We brought home our white fur baby that day and introduced her to Josie, her Basset sister just two months older. Marika began guarding after just a few weeks. At six months of age she was diagnosed with HD. Ten years later she is still alpha dog but has slowed down considerably. We recently started her on deramaxx in addition to her glucosamine to ease her joint pain. She has shown great improvement with her movements and is currently teaching her baby sister Gypsy how to be the family guardian.

Bio: Today, July 27, 2006, we let our beautiful girl go peacefully. I came home to find her unable to walk. Now she is no longer in pain and she can run with all of our other beloved pets. Your mom's miss you very much, sweet Mari girl.
