Birthday: September 27th 2003 Likes: Any activity where he is the center of attention! That and making sure the yard is completely safe from those evil squirrels! Pet-Peeves: Any activity where he is NOT the center of attention; people running AT him. He really hates that! Favorite Toy: KONG rubber balls, tennis balls, his canvas "Chuck-It" Flying Squirrel any available stick or plastic water bottle and his half-sister Dax! Favorite Food: It's gotta be carrots! Or maybe sardines? Oh, and crickets. They crunch REALLY good!! Favorite Walk: Along the shore and through the trails at the DeSoto National Park. Best Tricks: Digging dens and selective hearing! LOL! Arrival Story: I became smitten with this breed sometime in 2001 when I saw my first Canaan Dog during televised coverage of one of the Eukanuba shows. My jaw hit the floor as I watched this gorgeous dog enter the ring. I immediately began researching and learning more about these truly amazing dogs. The more I discovered about them, the more I wanted to know! After making contact with a breeder of Canaan Dogs, River Rock Farm, (now located in Australia!) and remaining in touch for about 18 months, Smeagol entered the world and we decided that he was destined to become a member of my family! He has fit in exceptionally well, although he does tend to try and herd the cats on occassion! Smeagol is an absolute clown and tries every conceivable method possible in order to garner even MORE attention! Bio: Smeagol (River Rock Gollum) is the offspring of Mom, "Muwth"(Am. Ch. DaySpring Ha'Aretz D'Muwth RRK) and Dad, "Z" ( Ha'Aretz Kwisartz Haderach DWLF CDCA HC), born September 27, 2003.
Smeagol is a true Canaan Dog through and through! Besides being a natural clown he is manipulative, extremely intelligent and VERY vocal when it comes to anything - or anyone - strange or unusual. As with most Canaans, Smeags is wary of new people and things. However, once he realizes everything's OK (and that Dad is in no danger!) he's all puppy-lovin' and tail-wags! He also adores children and will totally ignore me if a youngster is anywhere nearby. Truly my best friend and an absolute joy to have in the family.
