Arrival Story:
Maggie was given to my mom as a present after my father passed away because she was so lonely and sad. For the next 5 years they became best friends. They were always together. Maggie went to work with her everyday, slept with her every night. She was handfed and treated like a princess. Sadly, June 15 2008 (Father's Day no less), my mom was involved in a car accident and when she got out of her car Maggie ran out absolutely frightened from the storms and accident. We found her the next morning after someone called us because they found her on the side of the road. She had been hit by a car. I took her to UGA's Vet School where they ran tests and told me that her back and pelvis were broken. We made the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep because she was in so much pain. She was such an incredible companion - she wasn't a pet, she wasn't just a dog - she was my sister and my mom's best friend and we will miss her terribly.
