Milk Bones = Yucky

I was at my vets office a few days ago and my vet decided to give me a treat. I gently took it from my vets hands and when I tasted that treat I spat it back out. That little bone treat tasted NASTY. I looked up at my human mommy and she started laughing. She then explained to my vet that I've never had a milk bone before. Then my vet said that she's never seen a lab turn down food before..

I dunno why other dogs love that stuff.. I guess it's because I'm a spoiled labbie.. :D

Necks and Backs.. RAW

Oh my, my human mommy loves me so much. Yesterday my human mommy went to the local butchers shop and got some chicken backs and turkey necks for me. Oh let me tell you that frozen turkey necks are soooo YUMMY! My human mommy calls them necksicles.. :D Turkey necks are so yummy.. MmmMmmm.. I can't wait until tomorrow, that's when I'll get another necksicle.. Today I had chicken backs for dinner and I tried to tell my human mommy that one is not enough.. But she wouldn't listen to me. :-/ oh well.. I have to wait until friday to get another chicken back. :-/ I'm so glad my mommy gives me variety in my meals.. I'm one lucky labbie..

I'm so happy I'm finally better. It has been a week since I visited my nice doctor and he removed my staples/stitches. It did not hurt much, but I was so happy that I was finally healed. I love my mommy and daddy. I'm so blessed to have humans that care for me. I love them so much.. :)

Lately, my mommy has been bringing me so many toys to play with and some really yummy treats. I love playing fetch with mommy and chasing the cats. I do like playing a game with mommy. I like to grab things I'm not suppose to and run from mommy. I don't understand why she does not like that game. I love to play that game. :)

Why mommy!!!

I don't understand why my mom had to go out and buy me some "freshening spray"! I mean, I like to smell like a dog, not like Banana Bongo.. :-/ She says I smell good, but I don't think I do.. Now all of my dog pals are going to laugh at me. I think next time I'm going to go with her to Petsmart and keep mom away from the Grooming section..

I'm not feeling to good..

Well, I have not been feeling good the past couple of weeks.. I tried to hide that I was sick by acting like a normal puppy my age, but mommy and daddy noticed that I've been vomiting and had diarrhea. So, mom decided to make a vet appointment for me and on Thurday (10/6/05). We arrived at the clinic and I tried to play it cool. I didn't want the nice doctor to notice I was sick. I was fine until he decided to press on my belly and that when I started to whine and cry.. Oh boy, did that hurt... The nice doctor then told my mom that I was going to need to get some x-rays. I went with the nice doctor to get my x-rays done while mommy waited in the waiting room. When they put me on my back to get my x-rays and ultrasound, I was so unhappy.. I was barking and whinning so loud that people in the lobby could hear me. I did not like it and I made sure I let everybody know! When they were done I was brought back to my mom and that's when the doctor told us what was wrong with me. I had intussusception, which is when one portion of the bowel slides into the next, much like the pieces of a telescope. I could tell by the look on mommy's face that this wasn't good. After we recieved my diagnosis the doctor said that we should do surgery today. Mommy agreed and that when the doctor took me to the back room to get ready for surgery.. I was so scared.. My surgery lasted 2 hours. I didn't take to the anesthesia well, my blood pressure dropped to 40. So, they had to operate on light anesthesia. I had two doctors working on me and they removed 7 inches of my small intestines. The doctors said I was lucky, the bad part almost went into my colon. Luckily they did the surgery right away so they prevented any further complications. I spent 2 nights at the vet's office recovering and I was able to go home on Sunday (10/9/05). YaY.. :D

The doctor told me that I have to be in a confined space for the next 14 days and my diet consists of a ping pong ball size scoop of wet Canine I/D every 3-4 hours for the next 5 days and then slowly adding my kibble with the wet food for 9 more days.

Well, I'm on Day 8 since my surgery and I'm doing great. I'm gaining weight (I was 10 lbs the day of my surgery) and I have all this extra energy. I'm so glad mommy and daddy fixed me.. They now call me their million dollar puppy.. :D I just have 4 more days until my stitches and my lovely buster collar comes off.. YaY! :D
