   Leave a bone for Rummi

(pretend) show name: Ramera's Golden Chiquita, Rum-Rum, Ruminood, Yoda Bear

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-purebred-pound dog-dog rescue

June 21st 1995

I love wrestling with my new brother, Thor, but after that, going to the beach and rolling in stinky fish!

I do not like when people have loud squawking voices, and I definitely hate when my human family are arguing or upset

Favorite Toy:
A fresh, fat Yorkie! just kidding, I have some stuffed animals that I rip apart instead

Favorite Food:
anything seafood (just like my human mommy!)

Favorite Walk:
"the big beach" on Martha's Vineyard

Best Tricks:
"are you an angel?" in which I stand up on my hind legs for a long time looking angelic. I've been known to do it spontaneously to impress my mommy, but I rarely perform anymore, I'm too dignified in my older years

Arrival Story:
My Mommy was sixteen years old, had always wanted a dog her entire life, but her mother was NOT a dog person and had promised never to change her mind on that. However, one spring Mommy got sick and had to come home from boarding school to see lots of doctors and do lots of blood work, which made her mother very very sad. So one day Mommy and her mother were driving around doing errands (with Mommy at the wheel) and Mommy just decides to drive by the local pound. Her mother rolls her eyes but they go in and look at the dogs. They stopped by me, I was filthy and blowing my coat in a horrific manner, but I wasn't barking and I was bright and interested. They didn't take me out that day because Mommy's mother made them go home, but a few nights later it was announced to Mommy that given she would take all responsibility for training and caring for me, she could have a dog. They went back to the shelter and took me out in the yard. Actually I wasn't interested in the them at all because I'd been running around town for 2 weeks before they could catch me and then I was in the shelter for 3 weeks! So I just sniffed around the yard, let Mommy pet me if I came by, but for some reason she still decided I was the one. I came home April 29, 2000. Mommy gave me a well-needed bath, set me up at home, and we were set to go. It took me awhile to be as loyal as I am today but I definitely was sooo excited to have a home! Every morning I'd just dance and squirm for joy when I woke again to a loving family. The vet thought that because of my horrible teeth I was 6 or 7 when they got me, Mommy thought I was 3 or 4. Well, they met in the middle to estimate I was 5 years old when they got me because of how I've aged thus far. I just have bad teeth from living on the street I guess. I haven't had any problems with them, they're just ugly. Anyways, Mommy's mother learned to love me (well, really just learned about dogs because she'd always been scared of them growing up,) and now she won't give me back to Mommy unless Mommy stops migrating all over the country at every change of season. I love Grandma and I love Mommy, I'm lucky to have two people who would do anything to see me happy and safe.

I am a very smart and sensitive Akita. I have eyes that know everything. When I'm really happy to see my mommy and am in a playful mood I like to put my ears to the side and go all smilely so I look like a cross between Yoda and a teddy bear. Hence the nickname "Yoda Bear."

A flirting spirit in colors he flies
And shifts with him the impartial view
Of flora and fauna, air and electricity
Touches the green gold leaves to red

Gleefully warming and warning of winter
Blessed and quiet bursts forth from the earth
Each day creeps on, we hardly notice
When first the frost fingers each blade of grass

And eventually crowds the abyss
As with the discovery of love
So winter shadows my hearth
A foggy spectre that lingers at last

Until discovery births
The declaration of what is
You are wading knee-deep in snowdrifts
Welcoming the strength of what is real

Our hearts surge towards the lonely months
Needing only a fire, a friend

When I was but a younger girl
Before my muzzle grayed
I used to walk the streets at night
Homeless, but unafraid

Until the pound police caught up
With me, locked me away
Resigned myself to shelter life
Redundant, every day

Akita blood maintained my will
To hope, and never cry
But when my mommy rescued me
I heaved a thankful sigh

I danced each morning I woke up
And found her standing there
We helped each other to forget
The hurting past we shared

So even though she plays with Thor,
Attends to Stacy's needs
I know in my Akita brain
Despite the life we lead

My heart belongs with Mommy's heart
Our souls together fly
And even when we're far apart
Our love will never die

As moonshine
And tender
It comes
The wind and sun
Fly together
