Arrival Story:
Baz was one of my mom's first cocker's puppies, from her first litter. He was sold but ended up coming back to her, in sad shape. When he left, he was a happy outgoing friendly little pup. When he came back, he was skinny, had open sores around his neck, ears full of mites... obviously the victim of neglect. Now he stays very close to mom. He doesn't like it when she goes to work now, but is okay having the run of the laundry room and pantry as long as Peanut and Chloe are with him.

Old Man is pretty lazy these days. He's got some skin allergies that Coco likes to see to by licking them clean. Best remedy in the world for just about anything...dog spit! He's okay with that, but for the most part prefers to be left alone. Sometimes he'll crawl on Peanut's mommy's lap, and he likes to nap with his hoomans when they're sick. It's his way of making them better.

It is with a very heavy heart that I, Sebastian's adoring sister Krista, tell you all that Sebastian, "Baz", crossed over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday, October 19th, 2007. Being almost 17, as it happens, his health had rapidly deteriorated over the last few months and especially this past week.

Over the summer, we discovered that his hearing was totally shot. His cataracts were so bad that he was getting lost under the kitchen table, in the bedroom, etc. And finding his way back to the porch to be let back inside was an impossible feat. This past week, mom noticed a change in his breath and the vet said he was full of infection in his mouth and throat. His coat was dull and his fur would just crumble when stroked. Then a couple of nights ago, mom watched him in agony as he tried to sleep and was riddled with tremors.

She could not let him go through any more suffering. Yesterday morning, she took him in to the vet and saw him off to the Bridge. The staff has been so supportive and compassionate. They cared for him for the past 10 years and it was heartbreaking to everyone there. What has been most difficult for my mom was the fact that she had to go through this without my dad or me there, as we are both working out of state. It has torn us up to know that she had to do this on her own with no one at the house to comfort her. Sebastian's sister Chloe is grieving as well, constantly pacing and whining, looking for her brother.

I wanted to thank all of our dear friends on Dogster for the love and prayers that have been sent our way during this emotional time. Your kind words have meant so much to us.

If anyone would like to send a card, it would mean so much to my mom and dad to know that Baz was loved not only by our family, but by our dogster family as well. You can pmail me and I will thankfully give you their address.

Bless you all, and Rest In Peace, Lord Sebastian Wooley Bear.

It appears I have been Tagged!!

By my dear friend, Mister Oscar Meyer Wiener!! Delightful fellow, full of fun, so I shall oblige him with the game.

Tagged Rules!

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

1) My nickname is The Grinch. Unclear as to why, myself, however I've been told I can be grouchy. I think I'm entitled, after all, I AM getting on in years!

2) I was adopted but was given back. Cruel people, I was a straggly, infected mess when I was returned to my puppyhood home....I was nursed back to health and I've remained there ever since.

3) I was a partner in crime to Peanut's Great Marshmallow Robbery of 2005.

4) I actually DO like Chloe (but if you ever tell the little dickens, I'll firmly deny it!)

5) Over the past year, I've gone stone deaf and lost most of my eyesight. I can still find a hidden snausage with no trouble though!

6) I've been told I am a good boy while taking my bath. No use fighting it, I say.

7) I like barking at the neighbor's ducks. I can't see them very well, but I just KNOW when they're around.

My dear friends I'm going to Tag:
1. Abigail
2. Matilda
3. Whiskey
4. Leonardo
5. CiCi
6. Bailey
7. Fletcher

Welcome, Sir Beans!

Seems we have a new little whippersnapper under roof. Little Beans, a quite engaging little chap. Well-mannered humble little soul, he's terribly polite, and respectful of my position in the house. I have seen fit to take him under my paw and teach him the heirarchy of all of our fine residents....although I must have a word with our Chloe. I have noticed her already teaching him some bad habits. Poor Peanut shall have not a tennis ball in house that's unsheathed!
