Arrival Story:
We adopted Mandy from Almost Home Animal Rescue Group. Almost Home rescued her from a rural shelter where she was going to be euthanized. I still, to this day, don't know how someone would want to euthanize a sweet dog like Mandy!! When we met Mandy we realized she was very much a "people" dog. She loves everyone. She was very friendly and affectionate toward us and our daughter. We quickly decided to adopt her and make her part of our family. Just in the knick of time too, she had many people interested in her at the adoption event and we were the lucky ones to get her. She has become very comfortable and has fit right in with our family.
Bio:
Mandy appears to have been abused and neglected in her past. When we got her, the fur behind her ears, legs and tail were badly matted and she would yelp loudly if you would try to brush her fur or even try to pick her up. She would act as if she thought you were going to hurt her. We immediately took her to PetSmart and had her groomed and her mats shaved off. This helped a little bit. However, after being with us for a couple weeks she has learned that she can trust us and that nothing bad will happen. She has since allowed up to brush her without all the yelping and is more tolerant of being handled also.
Now she is a very happy dog, that loves to run around in our yard and "hunt" any squirrels or kitties that may have gotten into our yard. This is the only time that you hear Mandy barking, she is otherwise very quiet. She also likes to cuddle up when she is tired and at times thinks she is a "lap dog". Mandy is always doing cute things like when she gets playful she will lay on the floor next to you and "bat" at your hands with her paws so you will pet her. She does not lick alot but if you ask her nicely for kisses, she will likely give you one. If she is sleeping and you turn on the lights, she will cover her eyes with her paws. Mandy, for the most part, is very obedient. But sometimes if she is "casing" a squirrel she pretends not to hear you calling her into the house. She can usually be bribed with a treat!!

Yesterday was my birthday. Also, it has been 1 year since I have been living with my new family. I am so HAPPY!! WOOF WOOF!! My birthday was very special. I got a new "piggy" toy which I love and got some special treats throughout the day. Also, mommy, daddy and sister took me to the ice creams stand and got me a puppy cone.....mmmmmmm...yummmmm....so yummy. When I was done... I still wanted more so I tried to jump up for some of my sisters but they said NO! BOL. Mommy ended up letting me finish hers. I am a happy doggy.
