Arrival Story:
A friend on the board of the dog shelter saw Britt and thought I might like her. I went to check her out on a Wednesday, and as I was playing with her, another dog got mad at her and ripped her ear open. Britty was so sweet and calm about the whole thing! She just sat there and let me hold a towel to her ear until it stopped bleeding enough to get her to the vet. I knew I had to have her. She stayed the night at the vet, one more night at the shelter, and then I picked her up that Friday and took her home.

Bio:
Britty is currently in training to be a therapy dog...hope to pass the TDI test at the end of February. We tried agility, but Britt just didn't seem to enjoy it. So, we're back to walkies and playing with her buddy Millie.

How I got to my forever home

Hi everyone, I'm Brittney!

A few years ago, I used to live with some people who weren't very nice to me. They kept me chained up outside all the time, and I'm really scared of loud noises. So, on the 4th of July, I managed to get loose and ran away.

I was on my own for a while, which was kinda fun, but lonely and sometimes a little scary, especially when there were loud booming noises and it rained. I had a hard time finding enough to eat, but I did okay. Then, someone picked meup and took me to this big building with cages and lots of other dogs and cats.

I was really scared then, because there were so many lound noises and I didn't really understand what was going on. I gotto spend some weekends at a nice family's house, but was told I was just a foster dog...I didn't get to stay there forever. Then, after two months in this place, I was taken to this really scary room and was told that it was time for me to go to sleep...fortunately, the man that was holding me changed his mind and decided that maybe I could wait another week or two. I'm really glad, because I'd seen other doggies go into that room and not come out. I was happy to go back in my cage.

The next day, this really nice lady came and peeked in my cage. I was still really scared, and hiding in the corner, but she talked so nicely to me that I wagged my tail. I got a leash put on me and was led to another room. Then, the nice lady did something really weird! She closed the door, took the leash off of me and sat down on the floor! I just walked around and sniffed everything, then sat down next to the lady, trying to figure out what she was doing. She started to touch me and I was a little scared, but I let her, and it felt really nice, I'd forgotten how much I like to be petted! A while later, the lady put the leash back on me and led me out of the room. I saw another dog and went to check out her bed, and the dog got mad at me and bit my ear! It really hurt, but the nice lady held a towel to my ear until it stopped bleeding, then took me to the doctor's to get it sewed up.

I didn't see the lady for two whole days, then she came back, put a new collar and leash on me and took me in her car. She told me her name was Lisa and she was taking me home forever! I was sooooo happy! I've been at my forever home now for 2 years! I'll tell you more about it later.
