Dog Days

Whew - it's HOT here in the 'Burgh! I'm only outside a few times during the day because it is def. too too hot for puggies to be out for very long.

Mom took me to a cookout on Memorial Day, and that was all the heat I needed to experience! I have been enjoying laying around inside with the A/C on full blast the past couple days.

Mom also got me a new Puppia harness and new matching blue collar and leash. I must say I look very handsome.

This weekend is the Pug Meet Up at Misty Pines - I hope it doesn't rain. Keep your paws crossed!

Perplexing Pick-Up

Happy Valentine's Day!

My mom made me wear my pink t-shirt today. I like it, though. I'm secure enough to wear pink!

Last night, Mom's friend just picked me up and carried me around the apartment. Now, as you may well know, I REALLY hate being picked up, and I will ONLY let my Mom pick me for about 30 seconds. But I like Mom's friend, and she sure was suprised to see me being held like a baby without biting anyone in the process.

I got a new toy on Sunday made out of a real firehose. It's suppossed to be indestructible - ha ha! After ONE day, I had already ripped the end of it off! No toy can beat the Mighty Napoleon! My Mom has to buy me new toys every week! At least I don't get bored.

We watched the Olympics and the Westminster Dog Show last night. The Pug won the Best in Toy. I hope he wins best in show!

Barking Brigade

I had another obedience class night! I was all kinds of wound up and just kept barking at all the other dogs. I don't understand why at class we are on leashes, but at the park we get to run free! Being on the leash makes me feel very protective of my territory. Anyway, Mom had to take my outside and we ran three laps around the building to try and get rid of some of my excess energy. It worked - the rest of class I was a star pupil.

Speaking of being a star - I AM the star of the dog park! One of the other dog-owners would throw a toy across the park, and guess who would always be the first dog to retrieve it - yours truly!!!! All the dog-owners cheered ME on because I was the smallest dog at the park. I sure don't FEEL small - I'm tougher than any of those s0-called big dogs! I do love the park, afterwards I could sleep for days!

This weekend is the monthly pug-meet and I can't wait!

Obedience Overview

I started obedience classes last night! Of course, I was so excited that I went the bathroom all over the floor! I just couldn't help myself.

Mom gives me hot dog pieces for my reward when we are training - yummy. I learned sit, stand, down, and look. I use the term learned loosely, though, because I didn't really do the down command. The teacher said I may never do it since I'm the alpha dog and don't want to put myself in a vulnerable position. She's right! I also got to jump thru a tire!

After class, I went with Mom to visit Aja and went the bathroom in her house, too! All the excitement and I can't hold it in! Sorry, Aja and Penny. I got a really nice night of sleep since I was sooooo tired out from all the fun!

Mid-day Madness

Everyday, my Mom comes home during her lunch break from work to take me for a walk! It's my 2nd favorite part of the day (1st is dinner, of course!). I nap all morning and am ready to go crazy at noon!

After our walk, I get ALL my toys out and run from one end of the apartment to the other with as many toys in my mouth as I can manage! It's so much fun! Then I like to rub my back on the couch and knock everything off the coffee table with my flailing legs.

I really tire myself out, so when Mom goes back to work I am ready for naptime again.

Grooming Grief

Mom keeps trying to trim my nails - and OH MAN - I don't like it! She waits until I'm sleeping and tries to sneak the clippers out. She gets as far as actually holding the clipper up to the nail before I start growling and fake-biting her! I say fake-biting, because I would never bite my Mom, but I just want to let her know I don't like what's she's doing! I sure didn't fake-bite the groomer when she tried to trim my nails - I let her know who's boss so now I am not allowed back! Ha ha (evil grin) - that was my master plan!

Well, Mom says my nails have to be trimmed, but I don't know what she plans to do about it. I missed the Pittsburgh Pug Meet-Up on Sunday because Mom wasn't feeling well, but hopefully I will get to play with my fellow pugs next month! I don't usually play anyway - I'm too sophisticated. I do like to watch the other pugs run around and act silly, though.

Mom says we are going to Grandma's this weekend! I'm excited - I love taking car rides and I especially like going to Grandma's! She has a big, old dog that doesn't like much to play, and I get to steal all the attention from him! Mom says that isn't very nice, so she trys to pay attention to both of us.
