Arrival Story:
I waited over ten years for a Bichon. I found an ad in the paper that advertised a 10 week Bichon female puppy. I went by just to look, but I was smitten and came home with her the same day. She got the name Belle because she looked to me like the "Belle of the Ball".

Bio:
Belle is my Medical Alert Dog. As a service dog, she goes with me anytime someone else is not with me. She gets a lot of looks of disbelief that a small fluffy dog could be a service dog. After all, she is not a german shepherd, lab, or golden retriever. Belle is also a pet therapy dog through Therapy Dogs International. She is currently visiting a hospital & nursing home. She enjoys visiting people especially at physical therapy, Congestive Heart Failure Clinic. Cardiac rehab, PCCU and the Skilled Nursing Facility. She knows when someone new walks in that she has not greeted yet. Belle has her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate and her fourthworking title TDIEVA through Therapy Dogs International. Belle's latest achievement was when she and her humom received the Volunteer of the Year award for 2008 through the hospital where they volunteer each week. We recently added a blog with more information about us. http://bichonbanter.blogspot.com

Belle and her humom are the St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, OK Volunteers of the Year for 2008. We got lots of gifts and even a really neat photo that will hang in the lobby of the hospital for the next year. When next year's volunteer of the year is selected, we get to keep the photo for our own.

Daisy Belle or Belle (her call name) has received her AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate and her fourth Therapy Dogs International active working title, TDIEVA. Her brother, Obie is also a therapy dog with TDI, has earned his second TDI working title TDIOAV and is working on his third. Both Belle and Obie go for regular visits to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center and Enid Senior Care. Their pet therapy work keeps them busy as they go twice a week. They love to visit knowing they will get to see many of the same people week after week. Occasionally we visit civic organizations or other facilities. Belle is the most outgoing and remembers you once she has met you before. Obie is more laid back and waits for the world to come to him.
