wow! the holidays and a storm!

things have really slowed down again.... you should have seen how busy things were before the holidays.... cars up and down the street and pretty lights at night..... this only means...... Santa and new dog toys for good puppies! I raked in quite a few and a ham bone........
it has gotten very cold finally, it seems to do that every winter, so I spend a lot of time in the house now... I used to mind it a lot more when I was a young'un but not so much now.... it does get boring though, all I can really do is play with my toys and torment the cats.........
this past weekend though, we got lots of snow and I got to run around in it while Mom did all the work clearing the driveway... I am much better than when I got sick earlier this year.... I think Mom is the one who makes me slide and fall once in awhile ( she must have magic) it sure was fun though to run through it like a deer and even more fun to knock over the piles she was making for me to play in next to the driveway!
gotta run... time to bother the cats again!

oh no.... snow!

Yup..... it snowed finally, it always seems to do that when all the leaves fall off the trees. Mom says that it is too early to snow, but I love it! I get to run around in it and slide my face along the ground.... really cool to do and the smell of things that are now hidden is neat too. It is all gone now but i know that there will be more of it even though Mom says that she could live the whole winter not seeing it again. I made her go around the yard though and find a lot of my toys with me.... so they don't get buried for the whole winter... man that always is a bummer when I can't find a favorite one because ..... someone.... left it outside.

Fall is here......

Wow, it is fall so soon. The leaves are falling down again and it is so cool to go running through the piles of them. Mom has even left a small pile of them near my dog run so I can lie in them in the sun and watch the people go by. I still can't believe that summer has gone away.... there are so many cool things to do then and it is light so late that we can go walking and all kinds of stuff........ now, we have to go for a walk as soon as Mom gets home and before it gets real dark. The really cool thing is that I got a new toy to play with..... stuffed dog with a squeeker..... heaven! I will have to make room for it with all the others I have but I really like getting a new one to toss around. By the way... the new kitten Ridley (that's her name) still doesn't want me to kiss her... boy is she missing out!

still some real nice days left....

Well, the "dog days" of summer have slipped away... but there are still plenty of nice days to lay in the sun and play in the yard. LOL.. this week I gave Mom quite a good scare... I got loose from my chain when she was out...well, it was dark and she knows that I don't hear all that well, so it could be a big problem to get me to come back.... but I was just napping on the back deck waiting for her to come home! We have a new kitten and even though she was raised with big dogs.... she doesn't think that I am a great playfriend..... I thought ALL kittys loved to be kissed? Well, have to run.... a great walk is calling me.....and if I get really lucky.... Mom picked up a pig's ear at the grain store for me.... man that would just be the best!

I guess I have to start somewhere....

This is a first... WOW.... my own diary! Well, there have been a lot of things that have happened so far this year... where do I start?
I have been adapting to not hearing all the things I used to... at first I was just a bad dog because I didn't hear her commands but we work with hand signals a lot and I still can hear a whistle to get my attention. Then this spring I had an attack of vestibular syndrome.... I don't know who it scared more... Mom or me. It was a very tough thing to get over but if you saw me you would never know but Mom and I know how it has slowed me down some.
Oh, that bit about the job... cattle dogs need a job and mine is keeping track of the house and the neighborhood.... it basically means that I can sit out all day in the sun like a little old man and keep an eye on who belongs and who doesn't.
The weather is still pretty good, so we can go for walks a lot... weather... it only seems to bother Mom.... I don't see a problem with rain and snow! Mom says that it is good for me to work out and we play soccer a lot to work on my balence and stuff. I also lost my favorite cat buddy, Bruno who was 18... he used to love to play with me and get licked all over.... don't all cats love that?
Well, I have to be going.... work to do!
