Arrival Story:
Max was a gift from my daughter's fiancée for her birthday. She moved from home afterwards and Dad inherited the little guy. MY HEART BELONGS TO A SAINT BERNARD Gentle and devoted, A charmer from the start. A Saint Bernard looked in my eyes, And quickly stole my heart. So confident and cheerful- So quick to learn my ways, Regardless of the season, You brighten all my days. A breed with such a history, Courageous to the end- I'm thankful you are in my life, My dog, my pal, my friend.

Bio:
One of the sweetest, kindest, most gentle, loving and affectionate dogs I have ever known. Please visit Max for more photos at http://www.pbase.com/ralph/max_the _saint ****11/09/2006**** It is with unspeakable sadness that I write this entry to let everyone know that my beloved Max was diagnosed today with stage 3 lymphatic cancer. It's very serious and we'll be starting chemotherapy on him next Tuesday. The vet tells me that, just as with humans, there are no guarantees. The 12 week long treatments may give him another 12-18 months of reasonably good life but I think she was being optomistic for my sake. She said that even at its best, the chemotherapy will not cure him, only put the cancer in remission for a short time and that it will come back. It's not plesant to see a grown man cry but I've done my share and more of that today. Max is a very special animal to me and I become so very sad when I think that I may soon have to face life without him. One thing I do know and that is I will do everything possible to make his last days on earth happy and I will not let him suffer. Please send up a prayer for my Max.
