Traveling, drive, shopping and playing with Mickey.
Grooming is no problem but he does not want to go near the pet store where he is groomed.
Soccer ball, frisby, tennis balls, headless/wing-less/torn-up stuffed animals and squeaky toys.
Dog biscuits, chicken, steak bones and avocados; any human food that he is not allowed to eat.
Parks, outdoor shopping centers (his Mommy's preference?), any place that stimulates his curiosity.
Sit; down; shake hands; hi five - hi ten; stay; leave it; and dance.
Keio came from a Shiba breeder, Jane Vanderpool at Shibas Nest in Washington. When he was 8 weeks old, he flew down alone from Seattle to Los Angeles. Keio visited his birth place in Washington in August 2004 and met his grandfather, mother and sister.
When Keio is not happy or certain, his curly tail goes straight down. My Shiba owner friends think this is very funny because they have never seen this happen to their Shibas. Keio's tail makes it easier for us to figure out what emotional state he is in. Keio grew up with a cat, Mickey III. Mickey III is no longer with us and we all miss Mickey. Because of Mickey, Keio thinks all cats are his playmate and he often shows "Let's play" pose in front of cats we encouter during our walk. So, we have adopted a fearless hyper kitten, Mickey IV. In a matter of weeks, Keio and Mickey IV started playing and sleeping together. Keio seems very happy with this little brother.
Keio responds to our commands very well when we have treats in our hands.
