Arrival Story:
Originally the dog of a former co-worker, Macy was going to be sent to the pound because, in the former co-worker's words, she was weird and stupid. He accused her of growling at his son but none of us believed him. Simply, he and his family ignored her so much that she would sit in a corner when we visited their house because she did not think she deserved the attention. I took her because I knew she would be a fabulous dog and I was right. Not only did she NEVER growl at any child, I have had her since she was eight years old and everyone who encountered her loves her. She liked to travel to my office where my current co-workers and clients were always happy to have her company and sneak her people food when I was not looking. We took roadtrips to Utah, Arizona and California but due to age, she preferred to stay a homebody. I am heartened to read about other people who have openned their hearts to strays, pound dogs and rescues. Although I grew up with full bred dogs, I will probably never have one again knowing there are so many others out there who need homes. They can be a challenge but the rewards are great.

Bio:
Macy unexpectedly passed away on April 10, 2004. I know she lived a very good life with me but I miss her terribly. My family and friends have been a great source of comfort in this trying time. The pictures of her at the beach were taken at Dog Beach in San Diego just before she passed away. I hope dog heaven looks like Dog Beach and my human friends are playing with her and keeping her company. Because I always knew that she was a diamond in the rough, I am going to have a Lifegem made of her in addition to making a donation to the Humane Society in her memory.
