And a very Happy Barkday to all the puppies who were born on Valentine's Day (and a Happy Valentine's Day to one and all!)!!!!

It was such a great day! Even tho Mummy had to work (when doesn't she?), Auntie El-Pup played with me all day (got Shadow's nose out of joint because he wasn't primary target today heheheheh), fed me Chicken Carvers and other treats, let me run around and sniff around out in the back yard...what a great day! Of course, now that it's almost over, she won't let me have any of her chef's salad. Bummer!

Hope everypup had a great day!

I Gots More Problems

Mummy took me to the vet this morning and dropped me off so I could have a chest x-ray and echo-cardiogram since Dr Han said she heard a heart murmur last week. Rachel was my nurse, and because she was my nurse, they didn't need to anaesthetise me or anything. She and Felix know just how to mellow me. Anyway, Mummy said that they found my heart is slightly enlarged (but no congestive heart failure) and my mitral valve isn't functioning properly. But the doctor said that the only meds they'll add right now is a broncholator because of my collapsed trachea. I 'honk' like a goose, according to Auntie El-Pup. The doctor told them to listen for a cough as opposed to a honk, cause that'll mean there's a problem. I don't really understand all this medical stuff, but Mummy and Auntie El do, and they're giving me extra love.
And Pucci left tonight. I wasn't even home 10 minutes when Mummy and Auntie El-Pup got Pooch and his bag of goodies for his furever people (and the behaviourist, in the meantime) and took him to the behaviourist's. He's getting neutered tomorrow (I was way too young to remember that, myself, but Shadow said the cone around his neck was a bigger pain than the surgery) and staying at the trainer's until he gets a furever home. When Mummy and Auntie El came home, Mummy had a big bandage on her finger...I guess he gave her something to remember him by (heheheheh) Auntie El just feels bad...she says she feels like she failed him. But now Shads n me have Mummy AND Auntie El all to ourselves again.

What's A Ecko Car Dee-O-Gram?

Shadow n me went to the vet on Friday for our 6 month check-ups, and the doctor told Mummy and Auntie El that she found a grade 3 heart murmur in me. Auntie El splained that by saying that one of the valves in my heart which help push the blood around isn't closing properly, making kinda a 'whoosh!' sound. I didn't understand, but I knew it had to not be good cuz Mummy started getting all misty-eyed, and Auntie El just picked me up and cuddled me with so much love, I could almost feel her telling someone 'No! You're NOT taking my Peasy away from us!' So the doctor (our regular doctor had her baby and wasn't there) told Mummy that I needed a chest x-ray and this ecko car-dee-o-gram (is that anything like a telegram?) So Monday morning, Mummy's dropping me off at the doctor's and going to work while I lay in my bed until they gotta do what they gotta do. Then, after work, Mummy'll pick me up and take me home where I can say good-bye to Pucci, who'll be leaving soon's I get in. He's going back to the trainer since he's getting neutered on Tuesday morning, and Auntie El-Pup is totally stressed out.
She danced with me and Shads tonight...it was fun. She even let me lead! Whoever said puppies can't waltz?! We danced to 'The Tennessee Waltz' and she and Shads danced to 'In The Still of the Night', which she's always said was his song because of the instrumental middle where the humans sing 'doo wop doo wop', she sings 'doo ba doo ba' for one of Shads' nicknames OobyDooby, which sometimes comes out 'Oobas and Doobas' I know, she's strange, but she's the closest thing to a dog's mentality we have. Mummy and everyone else thinks like a human and treats us like dogs. Auntie El treats us like peers

I Don't Get It...

Mummy and Auntie El-Pup are both sick in bed. Mummy has something like pee-na-monia and Auntie El-Pup is suffering from dehydration. Now, what I don't get is, why doesn't she just drink when she's thirsty instead of waiting until every inch of her body aches. I'm not even allowed to walk on her! And what Mummy has, what does pee have to do with coughing and wheezing a lot, anyway? It's not like she doesn't pee. Maybe she doesn't pee enough? Or does she pee too much? I'm confoosed.
But prayers are greatly accepted :=)

Oh, P.S. Auntie El-Pup is, what she's calling, forcing fluids (soups, GatorAde (why no Puppy Ade?), water, etc). Every time I visit her (I'm helping Shadow stand guard over Mummy), she has a new glass with something in it that she's drinking.

Heheheheh

Decided to give Auntie El-Pup a nervous breakdown this morning. When she went out to get the morning newspaper, Shads n me knew that Lucky n Chipita were outside with Tio Juniol, so we ran out the door right after her. We ran and played with the girls until Tio Juniol had to go back to work. He put the girls back in his half of the house, and Auntie El-Pup called us for us to go in, too. Well, Shads, in a totally uncharacteristic move, actually listened to her and went straight in. Me, on the other hand, I hid among all the stuff in the back yard (we have a 'postage stamp' sized yard) and ignored her calls. So she went up around the corner to see if I went up to see Lola (the Maltese around the corner). Nope. So she came back around toward the house, and I can hear her calling me ('Hey, Pease!', 'Peasy!', 'Where's Waldo?'), but I ignored her (heheheheh). She went in the house, got her cane (so she can walk distances with her bad back), and headed out the other way around the corner (the way I first ran, the time I got lost, right after we moved here), calling me all the way. She made the circle around the block (including a MAIN drag, and by this time I WAS near hysterics! - Auntie El), calling me, and back to the house next door. I could hear her saying that if I was in Carlos' back yard, she'd shoot me (Auntie El - not really, just a figure of speech), when she saw me in our yard, under the canopy, by the glass-topped table. She started crying and picked me up and told me I was a bad puppy for scaring her like that. I thought it was a good laugh.

Dear Diary

Here it is, the middle of January, and only now are Mummy and Auntie El getting out my heavy sweater (amd Auntie El's putting away her spring/fall jacket) Auntie El says it's sposed to get real cold this weekend and stay that way for a bit. Well, now while I don't remember, she said that last February (which was alnost a year ago), when she was at the people vet's for a couple days (and Great Aunt Doorfee [Auntie El: that's Dorothy to the bipeds reading this] was here) it was real real cold and we weren't even allowed near the door because it was so cold [again Auntie El: any bipeds remember the Valentine's Day 2007 ice storm in the northeast?]

Anywho, Mummy went away overnight to the people vet's right after we got back home from Grandma's (where I had a great time, but more on that later). Something about a hernia repair that didn't work the 1st time? What's a hernia? All I know is that her belly hurts a lot again and she's spending a lot of time in her chair and hasn't gone back to work yet since before Christmas when we went to Grandma's. She got Auntie El cooking dinner (and they keep looking in this book and talking in numbers about their food...I don't understand [Auntie El: we're working Weight Watcher's Flex Plan. In our 1st week we both lost 2lbs each] what do numbers have to do with food?)

We went to go see Grandma and Pap-Pap and Pepper for Christmas. At least, that's what the humans call it. All I know is I got to play with Pepper and got more treats, toys and goodies. We went to visit Uncle Patrick and Auntie Robin and their 'orkies Ziggy and Zena, and they got a new puppy, a big guy [Auntie El: a Labradoodle] named Yogi Bear. Shadow and I wore jingle ball collars for the festivities, and we all had a great time, even Shads, who normally doesn't go for stuff like clothing or body decorations of any kind. He's strange, but he's my brother and he's fun to play with...when he wants to play.

To All Of Our Dogster Friends At The Bridge

Auntie El just came back into the house from her exercise and she was crying. It seems that the squirrels who live outside in our big tree had a loss of a family member. She says it's the one who she saw had a bad leg that she noticed before she went to hospital. She says she figures he just couldn't climb back up into his home and froze to death. Anyway, we're asking all of our Friends at The Bridge to make this little squirrel welcome, and don't scare him too badly ;=) Auntie El loved him (and his family) very much.

Thanx!

AUNTIE EL'S HOME!!!!

Mummy brunged us such a nice surprise tonight! She brunged Auntie El home from hospital! She's walkin kinda funny and bent over and won't let us crawl on her belly (and after seeing the marks there I don't think I'd want to!) saying she has a big boo boo. She showed Mummy and we saw this long nasty looking thing from her belly button all the way down. It's kinda creepy, but she says it'll make her all better (she hopes)

On behalf of Auntie El and my brother Shadow (and even Mummy and Great Auntie Dorothy), we'd like to thank you all for your prayers, warm fuzzies, best wishes and love (and keep them phone calls comin!...y'all know who y'all are)

With great love
A VERY happy Peasy

Mummy Came Home Today!

Mummy Came Home Today! I'm so excited! She'd been gone for what seemed like a dog's age, and now she's back. Only bad thing is I can't make like a mountain goat on her...she has these boo-boos on her belly which make her hurt, especially if we climb on her. Oh, well, at least she's home, so I'm happy :=)

Not Much New

No new news, yet...well, nothing drastic. Mummy went to hospital the other day...they thought it was gall bladder (whatever that is), but it was only scar tissue from a previous operation that was causing her problems. We miss her but she'll be home real soon (like, maybe even tomorrow!)

Auntie El has been spending all her time visiting Mummy (well, except today...she had her pre-admissions tests today, and spent the rest of the time playing with us), so we've kinda been on our own. And yes, we've been good puppies...no tearing up the furniture or stuff like that (I could get kicked out of NPC for that!), but we've both been shredding tissues all over the place, and I'm leaving my usual 'surprises' in my usual spots...behind chairs and stuff. I don't think we'll be able to get away with this when Mummy comes home :-( Oh well, it'll still be nice to have a little normalcy until Auntie El goes in hospital on Feb 2nd.
