Arrival Story:
Nicky was adopted fron Northern California Sled Dog Rescue the same place my big sister Willow came from. Since my new mom is a member she really had first choice when I came into rescue, but I had to pass Willow's approval. She had turned away a least 7 other males before me. I got home and it was a little tense the first week. I kept bothering her and she did not like me right away, but I seemed to have grown on her. We have had only one fight in 3 weeks so I think I am excepted now even though I bother her a lot. I also have another new friend Rascals, a 19 yr old cat that lets me know who is boss. I had to find out the hard way with a paw across my nose. I am cat tolerant and that is something for a Siberian. We are all friends now even though I chase Rascals now and then. I think I am beginning to fit in here.

From an abusive situation to a great home

I was adopted from a rescue group when I was 8 months and I was beaten and
abused before that. My foster mom had adopted me out to a nice family but
they did not want to take the time to help me and could not stand the hair all over the house. My mom took me back and I knew she wasn't going to keep
me but I think she felt sorry for me and wanted to help. I would scream, howl and cry when she tried to get near me and I would even try to bite her
especially when she tried to put a collar on me. I would hide my head in a corner and scream. My mom kept trying. I would run away from her because I thought she was going to hit me but she never did. She would pet me and give me kisses when I let her. She had to change come to hear because she
knew to me come meant getting a beating. So now it is here and I am doing much better. I have been with my mom and dad for over a year now and I still have
a lot to learn but I am doing so much better. Don't ask dad though. I have
chewed two Persian rugs, a leg on an antique table and many shoes. I love to get the toilet paper and run it from the bathroom down the hall to the family
room. This is done at least twice a month. I have learned to open the bathroom door and whatever is not nailed down goes to the backyard.
I am also a big talker. I woo woo and howl a lot which sometimes get me into
trouble. I think mom has done a great job with me even though I am still very
much a handful. My big sister Willow an Alaskan Malamute gets tired of me
also and puts me in my place. Watch out Willow, I have filled out and have gotten bigger and weight around 70 lbs. now. I will be top dog one day
I think. I am very happy in my new forever home and thanks mom for
not giving up on me even though I need a lot more work.

Love and Puppy Paws,

Nicky
