Arrival Story:
we decided to go to our local SPCA and look at dogs with the understanding we would not be bringing one home that very day ... saw this little girl sitting in her kennel - blankets torn to shreds, water and food knocked over, barking up a storm. Hubby kept going and I couldn't move. When I went to inquire about her because there was no card on her kennel, they couldn't find her info., turns out she was scheduled for euthanizing that very day and in fact, she was just about to go (that's why her card was gone)! Poor girl had been there well over a month and had been taken off the "list" at least three other times in hopes that someone would see through her anxieties and give her a chance. She had a horrible life in the short 6 or 7 months she had lived - kept chained in a backyard at all times, no toys - ever, no shelter, no water on a regular basis, not socialized or trained in any way, and suspected physical abuse, etc., etc. We took her into the gym there and let her off her leash and she ran and ran, would slow down to grab a treat but never stopped completely for us to even touch her. I knew she was meant to be in our family and hidden under all the shelter stress and previous history abuse/neglect, was this incredible dog. She was spayed the next morning and we picked her up that night. Finding her was kismat and she's my heart and soul.
