Arrival Story: One day while visiting the Humane Society I spotted this beautiful girl in the first ward room of the local shelter. I fell in love immediately and got into the dog run with her. At the time, unfortunately, she already had a hold on her for adoption. On the way out an employee asked us if we did not find anyone of interest and I said we did but, she had a hold on her and we were informed by the employee that one individual had holds on her and a couple of other dogs. The employee phoned the person who had the dogs on hold and it was determined she did not really want Jasper, so we adopted her that day. She has always been a Mommy's girl (my) girl and at the age of 10 years now, she has been my best friend and defender whom I love dearly:))) She's a very maternal dog!
She's never been crazy about men wearing hats. She had been abused; kicked in the hind end and was black and blue which wasn't realized until she came home and was submissively laying on her back for a tummy rub, that's when we saw her legs and lower tummy...she's always been sort of lame due to this since abuse IMO, since her adoption at the age of approx. 1 year.
Also, when adopted, upon getting her home, it was determined she had Parvo and kennel cough and issues with severe separation anxieties for almost 8 months....but....with lots of TLC this big, beautiful girl was the first rescue dog to steal my heart of my pack of sweet fur-kids.
Jasper's had health issues with aging...a number of fatty lipomas and a tumor (under her ear) which were all successfully removed in the fall of 2006 with surgery. She's a wonderful girl.
