In april 09 Popeye was diagnosed with two types of cancer, one that's not so bad and one that is... we had both masses surgically removed, but there's a chance we didn't get all of one tumor because of its bad location. We started oral chemotherapy in addition to his weekly acupuncture treatments to take a pro-active stance against his fibrosarcoma coming back. A month into his treatment he developed a horrible and rare reaction to his chemo meds and we had to stop all treatment while he heeled. About two months have passed, and we're just getting ready to try a new drug to fight his cancer.
Popeye's a strong, brave boy, and his spirits are always high, so we're very optimistic. He's about 6 1/2 years old, and we're nowhere ready to part yet, so we've decided we'll do everything possible to fight his cancer. This is just a little bump in the road, but it reminds me to enjoy and savor every minute I have with him.. if possible, I love him even more now than I did before.
