 Quick Bio:
 Likes: Romping in the snow

Pet-Peeves: Taking orders - she's a true Alpha dog!

Favorite Toy: Doesn't care much for toys

Favorite Food: Meat! Maggie is the original carnivore.

Favorite Walk: Around the front lawn

Best Tricks: Sitting -&- Staying -&- Giving the Paw; though we continue to perfect her response to these commands.

Arrival Story: We adopted five-year-old Maggie from the Metropolitan Maltese Rescue (MMR), just one day after she was surrendered by her owners who claimed she was biting their kids' feet (Maggie likes to hang out under the bed!)

Bio: Definitely an Alpha dog, Maggie is in a constant struggle for control, though she has come a long way in surrendering her alpha-dog status since her arrival in November 2004. However, Maggie is also a fear biter (I have the scars to prove it!) with trust issues, and that's a much more difficult trait to change, though we continue to try.
When she arrived, Maggie was a bruiser tipping the scale at more than 16 pounds. In her previous life, Maggie never went outside (took care of business inside) or had much exercise. Clearly this lady was accustomed to sitting around being fed ginger snaps!
Today, Maggie is a svelt 14 pounds and is continuing on her diet and exercise regime to reduce her weight even further.
When she first saw snow, Maggie had NO IDEA what it was but she ran around and around making snow circles like a little child. At times, she would just stare up into the sky relishing the snow falling down on her face and all around her.
Maggie is a much more social dog today and loves to go out for walks. And she now rolls over on her back so we can rub her belly - a true sign of her growing trust.
