Agility, love & attention, learning new things, going for walks to work on his Obedience lessons, and LICKING!
Being told "NO!" and getting his tongue grabbed when he can't control his licker! It just gets away from him and he can't seem to help it!! Tyler does not like water...he's not a swimmer, he's a sinker!
The "BLUEBERRY" (a squeaky ball that still squeaks!), tug-toys (aka dental floss), sticks, the treat cube, stuffed squeaky toys (which he immediately rips the squeaker and stuffing out of), and any toy that Kobi has.....and now he's a FRISBEE DOG!!
Duck jerky, salmon and salmon treats, charlie bears
Around the neighborhood, at the park, and in the building where he goes to Obedience class
Sit, Down, Stay, Shake, High 5, Turn-around, Roll-over (to the left and to the right!), and Give Kisses. He can also jump "Up!" and get a stick out of my hand.
I was looking for a companion dog for Kobi (and me) after Ollie died. I found Tyler on PETFINDER.COM. Kobi and I drove 3 1/2 hours to Ahimsa Rescue in Muldrow, OK to meet him. He was so sweet and so cute, we just had to bring him home!! Thanks to Teresa and everyone at Ahimsa Rescue for all the great work they do! Please visit WWW.AHIMSARESCUEFOUNDATION.ORG . There is a section on Tyler under Adoption Tales 2005. There is lots of other great info on the site as well. And plenty of dogs in need of forever homes. Please adopt a homeless pet!
Tyler has adjusted very well into his new home. He has been very easy to house-train (although he doesn't like going in the crate too much when I'm gone) and has already learned some new tricks and commands in the short time he's been here. Tyler and Kobi are already best buds and they love to play tag/chase in the yard and tug-toy/ball inside. Tyler is very affectionate and loves attention. He follows me around and is a velcro dog. He's a real snuggle-bug too. Sometimes he just can't control his licker and drowns me in kisses! Tyler will be starting Obedience Training very soon. He already knows "sit" and "down", but his "stay" needs some work, because he wants to be close to me all the time. Tyler also does very well on a leash already and I've been working with him on "heel" which he pretty much does naturally. I have also been trying to introduce him to new situations and new people and taking him everywhere I possibly can. I am also experimenting with leaving him out of the crate while I am gone on short errands. I have figured out that if I leave the TV on and give him a rawhide chewie, he does fine - most of the time! There have been a couple of incidents with flip-flops, tennis shoes, and mail, so I have to be careful about what I leave lying around when I leave him out of the crate while I'm gone. I have also discovered that Tyler can HOWL! Kobi is a great howler too, so we have daily howling sessions now! The neighbors think we're crazy, but the boys love it!! Now Tyler has a new friend, Molly, a blue cattle dog pup that lives next door. Read his diary entry about her and see her in the last picture here on his page.

I've got quite a busy schedule here lately. I've been having Obedience practice every Wednesday night all summer, and then I have Agility private lessons every Thursday's too. That's my favorite!!
A couple of weekends ago, I got to go to Stillwater, OK to a "Responsible Pet Ownership Day" at the college. I got to enter the Obedience and Rally Fun Matches that they put on. We got to hang out there for a long time and see all the neat stuff and some really cool dogs too! Mom even got me Microchipped there!
This weekend I get to go see my first mom, Teresa, at Ahimsa Rescue in Muldrow, OK. They are having a fundraiser for their new Rescue facility at Old Settlers Day in the park there. So we are heading over (a 4-hr drive) to check it out!!
Then next weekend I have an Obedience and Rally Trial in Enid. We've been working really hard to get ready for that too! Wish me luck! I only need 1 leg to get my Rally Novice title!! And I really want to make Mom proud of me!!
Well, that's my update.....now I gotta hurry and get to my Agility class....Wooooof!

Well, I've been learning Agility now since April and boy is it fun! I have practice with my trainer every week, and then Mom even built me some weave poles and jumps for my backyard so we can practice at home too! We worked on individual obstacles for a long time and now I'm doing sequences! I love running fast and blowing through the tunnel or chute! I just started working on the teeter last month, and I'm picking up on it fast too! Our trainer told us last week that we should be ready for our first competition trial next spring!! Woohooo!! I'm so excited, cuz I just love doing agility. Obedience is too slow and boring, and I got kinda burned out on that. But we do still go to Obedience practices every week too. And, I am going to an Obedience / Rally Trial in October though. Mom is insisting that I get my Novice title in Obedience and Rally since we spent so much time and effort getting me trained in that. So I'll just go along with it and do my best for mom! And then I'll make up for it out on the Agility course having lots of fun!! Woof!
