Louisiana Leash Eater

Well, I went to visit maw maw and paw paw in Baton Rouge and caused quite a commotion while there. See, daddy left my thick, leather leash on me when he put me in my kennel and when he got back 2 hours later...it was gone! Mommy, daddy, maw maw and paw paw looked everywhere, but realized I ate it when they saw just the clip hanging around my collar. Everyone was in disbelief I could actually eat my leash. My maw maw immediately thought to call her niece who works for a vet to see if I was in any danger. She consulted with the vet at her office and said I should be given 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide to help me get the leash up. Mommy wasn't thrilled to do this because she looked really upset. But, next thing I new I was eating a oatmeal pie, which mommy had sprinkled with the HP, and 15 minutes later I was throwing up chunks of my leather leash. Afterwards I felt great and my bloating went down. I was ready for another leash!
Now we're back in Texas and I'm doing fine. I'm still terrorizing Trinity and mom and dad have started to feed me more. I guess my ploy to get more dog food and treats worked! I'm sneaky, sneaky.

Peace out pups
Oh, and remember...if you want more dog food and treats...just eat your leash.

Well...its been a while since I've written in my diary but its because I've been so busy with my trainer. But now, I have successfully completed the 6-week course and mom and dad are proud. Although my training with the trainer is over, mom and dad continue to work with me on the tools I've learned. See, I like to break my lay downs and have to be corrected. I'm just trying to have some fun. Geeez! Also, mommy brought home this white furry thing that is sooo aggravating. She's always jumping on me and getting me in trouble. But, mom and dad have started training her too. Ha Ha!
Yeah, I'm still getting used to the furry thing they call Trinity. I like to play rough so I get yelled at a lot when I try to play with the new pup. I'm just trying to show her I'm the boss.
Well that's all for now peeps. Later.

Red Neck

Today I thought the "drill sgt." would just make me sit again, but I was worked really hard and did a really good job. Today, my trainer took me outside and I worked on staying near him. I got yanked a lot and therefore my white- colored neck became really red, but I caught-on quick - about 30 minutes. Usually it takes an hour or so. I think its partially because mommy and daddy have been diligently working with me since yesterday. They're trying.
This evening though was the highlight of my night as I watched LSU take on Arizona. So far LSU hasn't played very well, but I'm patiently waiting for "my tigers" to pull through. We'll see, we do have a new coach. I bet Nick Saban is growling right now at how the first half was played. COME BACK NICK!!!
Ok, halftime is over. Got to get back to the game.

GOOOOO TIGERS!!!!

First Training Lesson

Today was quite a day fellow furry friends. This morning I had to go to the vet and get my last puppy booster. Then, this afternoon mommy and daddy brought over this new guy who stayed at the house for almost four hours yanking on my choke chain and making me sit by him the whole time. I listened though and mommy and daddy listened to the guy explain how to make me respect them. I overheard mommy and daddy saying he was featured in the Houston Chronicle newspaper and studied dog training under one of the top trainers in North America: Bud Brown Hill.

When the new "drill sgt." walked in he had this small 8-pound pug with him and I immediately tried to dominate her, but she growled and put me in my place. I was just trying to be friendly, but I guess I was being too friendly. Next, the trainer (Russ Stovall) put a choke chain around my neck and attached my leash. When I wanted to act out, he'd yank me and then when I did what I was told he would say positive things: like "Good sit, Spanky." That made me feel good and so I wagged my tail a lot.

I'm really used to being the boss of the house but I think that's all about to change, per the "Drill Srgt," as I like to call him. He was a former U.S. Marine. He's coming back tomorrow for another lesson and then we'll do the same thing twice a week for the next six weeks. I'll be the most well-mannered dog ever. Woof Woof!! Hopefully next time I see my cousin Sparky, he'll be really impressed at how much I've changed.

Well, I've had a long day and I'm ready to hit the kennel. Later homies.

I pant
I drool
I hate the pool
I bark
I fart
Don't leave me outside in the dark
I love to speak
I love to eat
Why don't you go get me a treat
And remember...
My name is Spanky
Not Spuds Makenzie

I'm so glad to finally be a part of dogster. Woof Woof to all my homies, especially Sparky! Although, I'm excited about being here I have to go see the vet today. Actually, I quite like the vet because I get lots of treats. I was diagnosed with general mange last week after being misdiagnosed with allergies. I was itching and biting all my hair off and looked like a baboon. My butt was bald!
Mommy and daddy started giving me cheese twice a day, and I think somethings in there, but I don't care because I just woof it down. Whatever is in that cheese though is sure helping my itching and my hair is starting to grow back.
I've also heard mommy and daddy trying to find me a trainer because they think I'm so wild. I'm just active. I like jumping on the couches and running around the house like a crazy dog. I rule...the house!
I also have to brag about my two girlfriends...one of whom may of given me the mange. I need to be more careful. One is a female beagle that comes by and gets in my yard and we run and play...although its hard for me to keep up with her. Then, there's the prissy poodle next door that I visit everyday and lick her ears.
In closing, I'd like to give a very special Woof to all the victimes of Hurricane Katrina. I, like Sparky and his mom, were very sad for the people and pups.
