Trading Houses: Meet My New MommyJuly 3rd 2007 8:56 am[ Leave A Comment ] There's big news over on my homefront: My daddy has finally found a mommy for me! He went out to visit her not quite a month ago and she's decided to move here so they can get married next year. That means I'll be moving out of grandma and grandpa's house with him somewhere. We don't know where yet, of course. But we're in the process of looking. On top of having a new mommy, I'll also have a new kitty furbling. Now THAT should make things interesting!
What a Week!March 25th 2007 9:48 am[ Leave A Comment ] It's been a pretty good week for me over here. On top of all the excitement of March Madness (congrats to our lady falcons on making the sweet 16!!!) I got to go for me first walk of the spring season Thursday night. Then, the next day, I was chosen as one of the day's featured diaries! What an exciting couple of days I've been having!
Four More Paws on the BridgeMarch 18th 2007 9:09 am[ Leave A Comment ] My family is starting to lose its race against the proverbial Rainbow Bridge right now. There used to be 12 of us here on earth, now it's down to 8 (and one of those 8 was a late draft pick added to the team roster just a year ago). My kitty brother Charlie left Team Earth a week ago to sign as a free agent on the Rainbow Bridge, giving them another 4 paws to their advantage. The count now stands at 9 on the Bridge (Bro, Velvet, Joy, Brandy, Charlie, Kizzy, Chrissy, Mini, and Seppy) and just the 8 of us here on earth. Pretty soon RB is going to be able to double-team us! I think we need a new team member down here--preferably a boy to even out the gender ratio. I should take that up with the team managers, though, shouldn't I?
Cabin FeverFebruary 14th 2007 11:37 am[ Leave A Comment ] We've been having a lot of snow lately. The humans haven't had to go to work in 2 days because of all the snow we're getting. It's been hard on me, too. Not because I'm intolerant of cold weather (I'm a husky, after all). But the drifts are so high, they're blocking the back door, making it difficult for me to go potty outside. I can manage the drifts in the yard, but it's not as easy when you're trotting down icy, snow-covered stairs. Kirby and Kisses just use the blue potty pads, but I'm a bit too big for that. Grandma finally got the deck shoveled this morning, so I went out and romped in the blizzard remnants for a bit. What a relief after being cooped up inside all day yesterday! Now if only I could get my dad to take me for a walk around the block. I'm getting a bad case of cabin fever!
Neighborhood WatchNovember 30th 2006 8:22 am[ Leave A Comment ] We had a bit of an exciting incident last night. It's a typical quiet (read: boring) evening at home when out of nowhere a bunch of flashing lights and sirens appear. Of course, I'm very curious so I run to the window and begin my neighborhood stare down. The whole block was abuzz with cop cars and an ambulance while people passed by to scope out the scene. There were paramedics attending to a lady in one of our neighbor's front yard. It was hard to tell exactly what was going on, but she was apparently hanging up Christmas lights and either got electrocuted or had a heart attack, or something. After a while, they loaded her up onto the gurney and the big ambulance with the flashing lights went away. I'm still not sure what happened but I hope she's OK. Maybe it wouldn't have happened if I'd been at my post. If they had me as a watchdog, everything would be fine and dandy for them.
Minus OneJuly 19th 2006 1:43 pm[ Leave A Comment ] There's been another death in the family. Bro, my kitty cousin, died this morning. He was almost 18 years old (that's, like, 126 in dog years, isn't it?). He got sick last year but came back around for a while, then last week he took a turn for the worst and finally, he succumbed to it as the sun was coming up this morning. He's spent the last week living in Grandma and Grandpa's shower, for some odd reason only he understands. He didn't want anyone to touch him. Grandma and Aunt April continued to feed him though (and Kirby would always lap up what he spit out). It's going to be weird for a while getting used to him not being here. We didn't live together too, too long (3 years, maybe) but still, he was an institution in the family. Now that he's gone, it's like the walls are gonna come crashing down! I really hope that doesn't actually happen, though.
Bunny BewareJuly 5th 2006 10:44 am[ Leave A Comment ]
I did something wretched over the weekend. Something I'm actually kinda proud of...
A Science Experiment Gone WrongJune 6th 2006 6:52 am[ Leave A Comment ] I got shaved again yesterday. Grandma took me to the groomer's (I was very bad all the way there, yelling at other dogs on the streets and trying to jump out of the car before it was time). Aunt April picked me up later that day cuz my dad's still recovering from surgery and can't drive yet. I was glad to be home after spending all day in a strange cage where they clean hair up with a very loud sucking machine. I'm a lot more cooler now but of course I also look like a very bad science experiment. I'm completely shaven except for my tail, legs, and head. Kirby didn't seem to recognize me when I got home. She barked menacingly at me like I was some intruder! I guess I can understand her mistake, though, since I look different and smell like shampoo now.
The Road to RecoveryMay 19th 2006 6:52 am[ Leave A Comment ]
My daddy had surgery on his knee Tuesday. He's home from the hospital now but he's hobbling around with a walker like an old man with his leg all bundled up. So, I have to rely on the rest of the family to take me outside and feed me and stuff. We've basically moved upstairs out of the basement, though, which is good because I much prefer sleeping upstairs anyway. But, that means I'm getting more of my little white hairs on the carpet and that upsets Grandma because she has to sweep it up about twice a day.
I'm Heartbroken:(April 20th 2006 1:25 pm[ Leave A Comment ] My Daddy played a bad joke on me yesterday. Grandma and Grandpa decided to take a walk with the 2 little dogs, which they do from time to time and it's not a big deal. But, my daddy saw them getting ready leave (and saw me watching them, expectantly) and told me I could go, too. Well, as it turns out, he was just kidding, trying to get me all excited because he knew the 2 of them couldn't handle me plus the 2 girls. I was so dejected, I spent the whole time they were gone staring out the window, waiting for them to come back and get me. But alas, they never did. Do you think that was a very funny joke? No, I didn't think so, either.
