Expected Adult Size:

Arrival Story: Diamond has spent 4 years awaiting the forever home she deserves. Diamond's been let down so many times. She and her five siblings were born to a feral dog in a secluded area and rescued at just a few weeks of age. She remained in the care of her original rescuer, with her siblings and many other dogs, until she was 5 or 6 months old, when she was attacked by dogs within the household. Diamond was transferred to Jack's Angels to physically and emotionally recover from the trauma. Once arriving to her new foster home, it was discovered Diamond was very under socialized and extremely fearful of men. Diamond's foster Mom consulted with a couple of trainers who both agreed Diamond's fear of men did not result from lack of socialization, especially since there was a man in her previous home, but rather Diamond was a victim of abuse. In her new foster home, Diamond made fast friends with the household kitties, including one that has a strong dislike for canines. Diamond's foster Mom worked with her and saw great improvements in her social skills with both people and other dogs. After a year and a half of searching, we were sure we had found Diamond a forever home. Sadly, one year after placement, her adopters separated and both opted to leave Diamond behind as they went their separate ways. The trauma of being returned caused Diamond to regress back into the fearful dog we once knew. Things were further complicated by the fact that boarding was the only option for Diamond for the first three months following her being returned. Diamond was finally moved back to original Jack's Angels foster home in November 2006 to, once again, begin the rehabilitation process. Sadly, their pack, which had changed quite a bit during the year Diamond was away, will not accept her back. Because of this, her foster family is not able to give her the foster home she deserves. Diamond desperately needs a great foster or forever home to help make up for all the humans that let her down.

I am five years old...another year without a forever family. I haven't lost hope, though.
Dear potential adopters,
It's been five years of searching and you must be wondering why nobody wants me. As you can see from my photos, I have the most beautiful strawberry blonde and white coat, auburn eyes, and wide smile. I am more than just good looks, however. I've been hurt in the passed and might make you earn my trust but, once you have, I am loving, devoted, and eager to please. I am also obedient and a wonderful friend to kitties. I never chase them, not even outside.
I do have my quirks, though, and it's important you know about them too. I've suffered through the trauma of abuse, being mauled by a pack of dogs, and being abandoned more than once. I warm up to women quickly, often making instant friends. However, I am leery of men and slow to warm up to them. I am also not comfortable around children so I am best suited for a home without them and without plans for them in the future. I have fear aggression towards dogs that I am not familiar with but, as you can see from my photos, enjoy having a compatible canine companion. As I already mentioned, I love and respect kitties.
If you're a dog savvy individual looking to give a well deserving, albeit quirky, girl like me a forever home, please contact Jack's Angels. I am spayed, heartworm negative, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Even though I am in good health, I have a reduced adoption fee of $75.00 due to my behavioral special needs.
Let's start with the good news first - I have made some big strides since coming back to Jack's Angels in August 2006. It seems my adoptive family didn't meet my socialization and training needs, as promised. That, in addition to the trauma of being abandoned (again), caused me to really regress in the progress I had made during my first stay at Jack's Castle.
I was very depressed and withdrawn when I came back. There was no foster home available so I was boarded. I was so happy when my original foster humans came to visit me but it's was hard when they didn't take me home with them.
Three months later, I was finally back in my original Jack's Angels foster home. I was thrilled to be back. My kitty friends acted as if I had never been away. Sadly, the dogs weren't the same. It was a struggle integrating me back in with the canine pack. It wasn't the "welcome home" I'd hope for from them.
My foster humans have been working with me and I am showing lots of improvement. My canine and human social skills are getting better and better. I've always had good kitty social skills. I long for a forever home. I'd love a Mom (and/or gentle Dad) that will take me on walks/jogs and would especially love if they would let me cuddle on the couch or in bed. I am a wonderful loyal companion and friend, despite all the abandonment I've lived through.
I'll be four years old on August 25, 2007 and that also marks four years that I've waited for my forever family. My foster humans adore me (and I them) but I can't stay at Jack's Angels forever. I hope someone will give me a chance.
