Arrival Story:
Our family was looking for a rescue Whippet months and months ago because Stein really needed a buddy because he's such a pack dog. After a long while of being on some rescue lists, we ended up placing our name with Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue's Italian Greyhound rep. (because we loved pup-pal Punkie so much) and not more than a week later, she had Ned for us! Ned used to be called "Lincoln," and most recently was called "Benny," but we changed his name again because one of us is named "Ben," and that'd just be too weird. So we started calling him Neddy until he liked us, then just used Ned. He's named after the character in Groundhog Day. When Ned was a little pup (just barely six months), he broke his front, left leg. His first owners were going to put him to sleep over that, but a nice lady from SPDR's IG rescue swooped in and saved him. He was placed with a really great girl named R., who loved him and brought him with her to work at her vet clinic job, and his leg healed really well (though you can still see the scars right now). He favors it a bit if he plays really hard on it, but other than that, he's fine. Turns out R. couldn't keep him because of unexpected changes in her life, and she was heartbroken that she had to bring him back to SPDR. That very day, we met with R. and with "Benny," saw what a gem he is, and brought him home. He sleeps under the covers, though we're trying to wean him from that (hah! good luck!) and he likes to play and play until he crashes.
