Visits to the vet

Dear Diary,

The past two months have been a nightmare to me!! Mummy took me to the vet many times. I was vomitting and also had a fever. My teeth was in terrible condition. My annual vaccination was also due.

Mummy panicked when I vomitted blood despite visiting the vet. She rushed me to a second vet who gave her some sound advice. I felt better after that and the vomitting stopped.

Shortly after my recovery, Mummy took me to the vet again for a dental check-up. Three teeth were extracted! Ouch! The staff at the clinic locked me up in a cage. I HATE CAGES!! I barked loudly and scratched the cage to get out but they did not let me go!!

Hope I don't have to go back to the vet again!!

Forever young

Dear Diary,

I've not made an entry for the longest time. Mummy took me to the clinic early this month. I was very brave. I didn't shiver and struggle as much compared to last year and those years before last. I am a brave girl now!!! Mummy was so proud of me... The doc told her I am healthy..er except my teeth needed some scaling and it had to be done within a year from now due to my age. SHe mentioned casually that I was getting old...

OLD....do I look old??? I can jump up and down Mummy and Daddy's bed anytime I want. Mind you..the bed is much taller than me...

Mummy's colleagues told her that I look very young and pretty. I even had a one-year-old Mini Schnauzer going gaga over me. Many people in my neighbourhood think I am still a puppy! How can she call me "OLD"???

Dear Diary,

It is Chinese New Year again. Mummy and Daddy celebrate Chinese New Year every year. As some of their relatives are EXTREMELY frightened of dogs, I don't get to go out with them during CNY. I hate CNY as I will be left alone at home........Boo Hoo...

This year, Mum bought a nice cheongsam for me so that I can wear it to Grandma's house for reunion dinner. Do you know that the reunion dinner is significant to the Chinese as it is the day when family members gather to have dinner? Relatives who live overseas will come back for this special dinner.

Everyone is ready for the reunion lunch now... we are going to Great Grandma's house for reunion dinner later in the evening..I got to run.. need to perform tricks to beg for food...

Photo Shoot

Hi Diary,

Mummy and Daddy took me to a studio for my photo shoot last Monday. It was raining cats and dogs that afternoon when we reached the studio. My fur was drenched.

We were greeted by a friendly man who was the photographer. He wanted to play with me but I found exploring his studio more interesting so I spent some time sniffing around the studio.

Mummy let me wear some of my doggie clothes during the photo shoot. During the session, I was put on stools and tables. Daddy was sitting near me to lend his moral support. I kept looking at him and he decided to stand behind Mr Photographer. I was very anxious and started barking for Daddy. Daddy did not come so I jumped off the table! Daddy, Mummy and Mr Photographer gasped in horror as I performed the 'stunt'.....

After two long hours, the photo shoot was complete! Daddy and Mummy took me to a coffeeshop for Katong Laksa (Mummy's favourite food) before selecting photos for my album.

Today, we collected the photos. Mummy has just uploaded some photos to Dogster!

New Wardrobe

Dear Diary,

It has been a while since I last made an entry. Recently, Daddy and Mummy took me to a dog show where the dogs were judged on their 'beauty'. We were busy shopping for my clothes and tidbits. Mummy also bought a nice wardrobe for me. She hung all my clothes in the wardrobe. It is red in colour, like most of my clothes...Honestly, I prefer Greenies and snacks than the wardrobe..Hope my mummy will buy plenty of snacks for me..Yum Yum..

It's their turn

Dear Diary,

My Mummy did not update my diary for the past two weeks because she and Daddy had very bad stomach flu for a week...they were so weak from vomiting and diarrhea but they made sure I had my food. Fortunately, they have recovered...in fact, Daddy promised to bring me out to gai gai...Hurrah!!!

Yucky Peanut Butter

Dear Diary,

Mummy was eating some delicious human food again..I was so excited that I stood on my hind legs and flashed my sweetest doggie grin and reached out my paws. Usually, Mummy doesn't give me human food..but because I appeared sick for the past 2 days, so she gave in and offered me a little. I bit it happily and dashed to my 'den' to enjoy the delicacy..Yucks....taste like my toothpaste..I hate brushing my teeth..horrible taste...I spat it out..

Poor Mummy, she had to clean up the mess in my 'den'..She swore never to give me anything that has peanut butter in it...

Someone is intruding my territory..those noisy people and their cars at the drop off/pick up point again..I am going to bark at them until they disappear...

Am I sick?

Dear Diary,

I was feeling unwell for the past 2 days...I did not keep my Daddy company in his study and refused to sleep next to Mummy. I did not have a good appetite...did not eat my dog food and even my favourite treats... Sigh...

Mummy was so worried...she kept giving me my favourite treats and tried to engage me in doggie games but I just ignored her...She thought I might be sick because Daddy fed me with human food some 2 days ago. Mummy has been poor at Science ever since she was a schoolgirl..she wasn't sure if anything in the human food Daddy fed me could have made me sick. She looked through books on dog care frantically but couldn't get an answer. She also could not reach the vet..(Glad she did not..I always shiver the minute I enter the clinic..)

Luckily, Daddy came to the rescue. He brought home delicious canned food for me and I gobbled it up in seconds..I then picked up my favourite toy and started playing with it..

Mummy heaved a sigh of relief..she was glad I was alright.

You are my Sunshine

Dear Diary,

Sunshine is fighting for Daddy and Mummy's attention with me again...How dare he sleep next to Mummy during bed time...This is infuriating..I was so angry that I barked and growled at him. Mummy and Daddy scolded me for that. I was so upset...

When he tried to jump up to Mummy and Daddy's bed, I bared my teeth at him without making a sound so that Mummy would not notice..but alas Mummy knew something was wrong when Sunshine did not jump up the bed despite her calling his name many times and she caught me baring my teeth at him..Oops.. I was scolded again..It's all Sunshine's fault..I am going to snatch his Greenie from him if Daddy gives him one...

Sleeping Time

Dear Diary,

It has been raining almost every day in Singapore for the past 1 to 2 months. Daddy and Mummy have been very busy and I hardly see them at home. I usually sneak into Daddy and Mummy's room and rest on their bed instead of resting in my own kennel. At first, Mummy was angry when she found out about it. Now, she has accepted it and even leaves the bedroom door open so that I have free access to the room. I need not scratch the bedroom door to go in anymore..heehee...
