Arrival Story:
We saw an ad in the newspaper one day for a "Husky/Retriever Mix - Adorable Face." The dog, then known as Sage, was staying in the foster home of a Grateful Dogs Rescue volunteer. We went to meet her. When we entered the foster mom's house, we were greeted by a dirty, stinky, lanky creature who came sailing over a couch and skidded out in front of us. We fell immediately in love with her and later named her Stella Brie Neorxenawange (the Old English word for "paradise"). That was 1999. She had ended up with Grateful Dogs because she had mange and had been rejected from the San Francisco pound when she was brought there after being found in an alley in Oakland.

Bio:
Stella is one of the most intelligent dogs I've ever known. It's almost scary how smart she is.
