There is this really sweet lady who lives behind us over the fence [the gray one] named Anne. Anne is from Australia and has a funny way of talking but she really know how to scratch behind ears. Well, anyhow, she has a black cat named Sam. Sam wanders around their backyard on a retractable lead attached to a little concrete block. Now Sam, being a cat is stubborn and tenacious, so he dragged his weight thing over to the fence and jump over, [Miss Anne was inside for just a moment.] He couldn't go anywhere 'cause he was "at the end of his rope" [tee hee hee]. So being a good host I went over to say hi and he ATTACKED me! In my own yard! Mom and Miss Anne heard the fuss and ran out and Sam went back over the fence and I went inside.

Mom pulled 2 cat claw sheaths out of my muzzle and cleaned the scratches and put yucky stuff on them. She kissed me and gave me a treat for not biting Sam or fighting back at all. Mom and Miss Anne think I am the best dog in the world. They think I didn't take Sam out with one powerful snap of my jaws because I am such a good dog. Well, I am, but the real reason is I live with 2 really sweet cats and Jessica [J. is a not sweet cat!] and I would never be able to look them in the eye, have them rub against my head when I'm lying down, or touch noses with them if I killed one of their kind for being scared. Although to be honest the thought did have some appeal when the little fur creep was clawing my face. :) ^..^
