She had almost no hair on her body and was very frightened and shy. She had severe skin allergies and a cloudy eye. We brought her home as a foster and she never left. With constant vet care, new diet and lots of love and patience, our girl became the sweetest little bundle of joy! With time, Soleil's hair grew back and she learned to trust humans again. She is a majestic lady now and she is in very good health. Her name was Baby Girl. We renamed her Soleil, which is the French translation of the word Sun because that's what she is to us; sunshine in our lives. Bio: Soleil snores so loud, that sometimes, mommy has to wear earplugs! No kidding!
Soleil made such progress within 3 years! She has learned to play with other dogs and enjoy herself. She hates to go out for walks and now she really enjoys to go out with her sister Sammie Poochon. Now that Pepper crossed the Bridge, she is my oldest baby and the longest with me. I am 16 years old today and mom is thrilled. She never thought, when she adopted me at 9 years old that I would stay with her that long. I was a puppymill breeder when mom rescued me and the vet thought I had too many problems at the time to have a long life.
I beat the odds! I am now 16, happy, still playful, completely deaf, but otherwise very healthy. Mom had bloodwork done on me recently and all my vital organs are normal, no blood pressure, no masses, no glucose, kidney or heart problems, not even a slight heart murmur!
My secret is, excellent food, lots of patience, tons of love and truck loads of hugs and kisses. BOL!
So many fosters, so very few foster homes for them. Mom is swamped with new rescued dogs. We have 2 very noisy Yorkies right now and they are driving me nuts! They are driving mom and husis bonkers too. They are good babies but together, it's a lethal combination.
Mom says that too many people don't train their pets and when they can't control them, they give them away, abandon them or take them to a shelter. So sad for these babies and only because they were not taught anything and were not given a structure to go by.
So that's what mom and husis were whispering about yesterday. It's my birfday and they both sang me Yappy Birfday. I'm 15 years old today, whatever that means. What mom told us is that she is making squirrel cookies today and we will celebrate my special day.
Even though I am 15 today, I feel like 5. I'm happy and spunky. Mom will take me for a car ride with her and we will go visit our friends at the playcare place. She will buy me a doggie ice cream. Oooohhhh, I can't wait! BOL!
