Reaux and I had another fine adventure yesterday. I work in a Natural History Museum and of late there have been a lot of school groups visiting the museum. The kids like to eat their lunch in the grassy area in front of the museum, when they are done they put their lunch remnants in trash containers bordering the parking lot. The squirrels like to forage *in* the trash cans for tasty tidbits. Reaux knows this, his approach to this situation is to circle around the can and to place himself between the can and the closest tree and then rush the trash can.
He did this yesterday. . . and it worked! Out popped a squirrel in a heap of trouble, the squirrel took in the situation in a flash and headed for the nearest tall object - me. The whole thing only lasted a couple of seconds, but imagine in your mind's eye the scene. There I was with a squirrel scampering up my body until he reached my head, for a moment I had a squirrel hat that even Davy Crockett would have been proud of. Of course I was flailing my arms about, sort of like Mr. Bo Jangles, and Reaux was jumping up on me trying to get to the squirrel, you know these Glens can jump chest high! Soon enough the squirrel launched himself using my head as a vaulting platform towards his tree, he made it with Reaux hot on his heels. Thankfully I sustained only a few scratches, and a major adrenaline rush. . .don't think I'll put myself betwixt the trash and the tree anytime soon though.
