   Leave a bone for Buddy

Budmeister, Bud Man, Bud, Budhead, Little Man, Taz, Buddy Lee, Wildman

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-purebred-dog rescue

Car rides, going on an adventuresome walk, , licking wet legs just out of shower, dog parks (other dogs), being fed, licking everything, a bath, the pool, playing with his pack (his humans). playing with toys, chewing bones and, of course, treats

Going to the vet, someone trying to take his bone.

Favorite Toy:
Bone. Any kind of bone. If it's a meaty bone, he'll actually growl at us if we get close. We pretend we are going to take it away, and he growls but doesn't mean it. He has many other toys. The floor of our house is covered with them.

Favorite Food:
Liver jerky (its a treat, but it's his favorite). Then whatever you give him to eat.

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere he can sniff every leaf, blade of grass, tree, bush (you get the idea)

Best Tricks:
Dancing. I snap my fingers about 3 feet off floor and he jumps up and keeps spinning around. I used to say "dance" but now I just have to snap my fingers.

Arrival Story:
Buddy was a rescue. His previous owners neglected him. He showed no signs of being abused otherwise. He just needed lots of love. He also has lots of love to give. When the Dog Mother (a woman who rescues dogs and finds suitable homes for them) called and told me she had a little boy pug, I was disappointed because we wanted a female, but we went to see him. He was a lively 9-month old and it was love at first sight (we just flipped out over eachother!!). He's happy and loves his family. Everyone says he is the luckiest dog to have us as his family (we do tend to spoil, but you can't ever give too much love you know). We don't know what we would do without this little guy.

Buddy loves the great outdoors. He thinks he's a big boy and loves to play with the big dogs when we go to the dog park. Being a pug, he thinks everyone is there for his amuzement and everyone loves him. He loves sneezing on us. Especially in our faces. It's a pug thing. He is an incredible wrestler. Most of the time, he's my shadow. That's what my husband calls him, but occasionally my shadow follows my husband around. Mostly, he has to be where I am. If we are sitting on the couch, he snuggles right between us. Buddy's girlfriend is Sonia. She's a pug too and lives in Baltimore. She is a little older, but that makes no difference to him. He flies to see her occasionally, and she came to spend Christmas with him in 2003. It's a long-distance romance, but it's true love.

Monday, October 24, 2005. All of the hard work I went to in putting up the storm shutters really paid off. We didn't lose one window when Wilma hit today. My Mom was kinda scared. That's because of her experience with Hurricane Andrew. The winds were blowing very hard and very loud. I could hardly sleep. When we woke up this morning, it was about 5:30 and we lost our electric power. Mom got up and took all the pillows off the bed. I didn't know why, but she was putting them all on the floor in her closet. Dad got the flashlights and lantern type light. We all sat in the living room. After awhile Dad laid down on the couch. He was dozing off. I was snuggled all the way up to Mom, and I was sleeping. She just sat. When Dad asked her to lie down and relax she told him she couldn't do that. She was in the "run" mode, if it became necessary. She also told him that if anything happened, she would grab me and he should grab the battery powered radio and the flashlight. We could all go into her closet which she had prepared. After awhile of her not being able to relax, Dad said "why don't you and Buddy just go in the closet and lie down". So we did. We couldn't hear the wind anymore from there and we both fell asleep. Around 11:30 someone was pounding on our door. It was Gregg, Buster's Dad. The wind was still blowing a lot, but the worst of the storm was over. We went outside to check out what happened. Wow. Things sure did look different. We had no fence anymore. One of our trees was on the ground. There was stuff all over the place. Some tiles from the roof were on the ground. I had to check out everything that was in a new place, and pee on it. I was very busy. After awile, we came in because Mom was afraid a tree could fall on me and flatten me. It was a very exciting morning (as you can tell by the amount of sleeping I did).
