What a climber! She could climb any fence wood or chain link. She would jump off anything. She even jumped off a bridge into the river after I had gone...then many times after that.

Arrival Story:
It was February in Sun Valley Idaho... just after a storm that had dumped several feet of snow in the mountains then settled in with record low temperatures. I had seen her wandering around town a day earlier, and now she was wet, cold, and thin. This is avery dog friendly town, and someone had to know who she belonged to. I took her home, called our no-kill shelter and told them I had this little yellow lab. I even distributed pictures of her and had the local radio stations announce my find. No one every claimed her, so I was now the proud mommy of a rescue pup about 6 months old. She came to me with distinct fear which I helped her battle for the duration of her nearly 15 years of life. At the age of 3 she jumped out of a moving jeep and broke her leg. She was missing for 2 days. The same year she was diagnosed with Parvo, and I refused to believe the diagnosis. I hand fed her for 2 week before she was able to gain the strength to again run. We were once separated for nearly 4 months. When a friend who had volunteered to watch her at their home for a few weeks while we searched for a new home that was pet friendly. The wife gave her away to a stranger without any notice. I searched for her daily on bike, car, and foot in the nearby towns. This dog was granted life over and over again, and finally the heart wrenching decision to put her down in June of 2005 had to be made. I hope she is chasing many tennis balls and swimming in rivers til her heart's content. See you on the Rainbow Bridge my good friend.

Bio:
Cali the yellow lab was my original dockdog. If she were a pup today, this would have been her sport. She loved the water, and entered it with wild abandoned everytime. My young chocolate pup watched her play in the water, I see that dog to dog training now in her as she enters the water.
