Arrival Story:
Lulu was found abandoned in a parking lot on the Long Island Railroad, by Marianne. Marianne brought Lulu(then known as Fifi) to work with her at The Ritzy Canine, a doggy day care facility. I heard all this barking and when I was told what had happenened to her I asked if I could see her. I opened the door and there was this little white head peeking out. She had no hair from her mid section back because of fleas she had ripped out her hair. She also had breath that could knock you over. Marianne said she could not keep her because her building did not allow pets. I cried for 2 days and decided to raise money to have her taken care of and find her a home. The vet said she had absesses on her gums and all her teeth were rotten and loose. She was 8 or 9 years old, had not been spayed, and as a result had a small adnocarcinoma. She was spayed, had all of her teeth removed except for her 2 front bottom teeth and three back teeth on the left side. She recuperated very well and then came the task to find her a home. She was very scared, shaking most of the time and layed by the front door . She also stood guard over toys and growled. My 1 1/2 year old Westie,Ruby, did not make things easier for her but she became very attatched to me. I couldn't keep her because Ruby is in daycare and I couldn't afford to send them both. Then a Fairy Godmother by the name of Wendy offered to have her stay with her and her menagerie of dogs, cats, fish and birds, during the day. So that day she received the name Lulu and became a delightful part of my family. I am happy to report the she is now well loved by her sister, Ruby and they play together.
