Arrival Story:
We wanted another puppy. We searched for a breeder and found this litter. After meeting the litter, we agreed that we needed a mellow male to get along with Tula the Terrible and this little guy seemed to fit the bill. When we picked him up to take him home, he yowled all the way home (over two hours). "Help! I've been puppynapped! Call the cops! Call my mama! Call anyone!" That night I got one hour of sleep, sitting up on the floor at the end of the bed with him on leash on my lap. He hated crates. Finally I used the vacuum cleaner to convince him that inside a crate could be more peaceful than outside the crate and he let me sleep for four hours. Polya became extremely attached to me and it has taken a lot of training just to be able to leave the house without having him panic at losing me. We think we have now got pretty well over the separation anxiety.

Bio:
Polya had a lot of bowel problems as a puppy, which made training hard. He is, however, quite a mellow little guy so long as you don't leave him in a crate with something in reach that he can pull in and destroy. He has done rally obedience training and pet agility, but recently has been mostly doing Working Pack Dog hikes. He's an energetic boy who amuses himself well. The funniest thing is that now that he has a soft crate and has matured a bit, his crate is his place of choice to chill out and nap. In October of 2010, he completed his WPD requirements and is now titled as a Working Pack Dog by the Siberian Husky Club of America.
