They became fast friends and I started bringing Chucho to my house nearly every day after work. His owner had built him a wooden dog house which he kept him tied to all day long in the hot sun. I also had concerns about whether he was feeding him enough and whether he was cleaning the urine and feces in the small area that he had to move around. On the evening of 7/20/05 something seemed wrong with the puppy. His energy level was a little low and he wouldn't eat the food I was offering even though he was noticeably thinner. The next day his owner said Chucho was sick and he had taken him to the vet (Thank God!). I found out Chucho had contracted the Parvo-virus because his owner hadn't vaccinated him (Grrr!). Within two days he was still sick and his owner wanted him euthanized even though the vet felt he had a chance to survive. I'd already grown too attached so I offered to care for Chucho in my home to see if he could recover. The owner had very little hope and asked me not to tell him whether the dog lived or died and if by chance he lived, I offered to find a new home for him. I brought Chucho home from the vet on 7/23/05. He survived the awful plague of Parvo but still has a ways to go before he's a rolly-polly puppy again. He's drastically underweight, he seems somewhat depressed being away from his owner, and his appetite and sensitive stomach are unpredictable. Bio: So my brother-in-law is big into music and he gave me a sticker for an indie Australian band called The Sleepy Jackson. I put the sticker over the door of the dog kennel where Chucho has slept day in and day out for over two weeks. When it became clear that he would become my dog, the name just hit me. I still call him Chucho but I'm trying to transition to Jackson which I think will be more "marketable" as I search for his new home. **Jackson was adopted on 9/11/05 to a young couple with another dog named Goomba. Jackson and Goomba have become great friends and I've been able to visit him a couple of times. Yay Chucho! I've Been On Dogster Since:
