Being a part of our pack with me, Diego and Ari. Dog parks, sunning in the backyard and drinking from the bathroom sink.
Ari getting on 'his' bed, the 'no' sign, having to leave the park no matter how long we've been there, and, just recently, getting into my SUV because he's so tall now that his back grazes the top!
Acceptable toys: sticks & empty, plastic water bottles. The unacceptable have included: a number of expensive shoes, my digital camera and the cushions to a brand new sleeper sofa!
All the free treats at Canine Cocktail Hour. Funny thing is that I can buy the same things and bring them home and he won't eat 'em!
He loves walking through the park because so many people stop and pet him and many more take his picture. My fear is seeing us out there on the Web... Titan looking handsome and regal... and me in my "dog park" clothes, looking like a bum!
I'm proud of anything my deaf dog does!
The deaths of my sweet deSade (old age - 15) and Mr. Dante (cancer at age 7) in January and May left Diego depressed and without a playmate and companion. After almost daily visits both to the animal shelters and rescue web sites, I saw his picture on petfinder.org, put in an application with the Middle TN Great Dane Rescue and was chosen to be his Dog Mom. I drove to TN a week later and fell in love with both Titan and Tonya, who runs the rescue... Tonya for the selfless work she does for the animals and Titan because he was just so darn cute!
After months of planning and not one but two official measurement events, Titan has just been officially named the World's Tallest Dog! Life has been a whirlwind, with my boy being recognized everywhere he goes... and that means even more "Gotta saddle for that horse?" jokes... LOL! To tell the truth, I think I've heard every humorous quip about his size and joke with friends that I'll propose to the first guy who comes up with something original to say about my Gentle GIANTS. But I take it all in stride as my kids are truly Rock Stars. Titan has won 1st Place in several "Largest Dog" contests, worked the red carpet at the Lintroller Party in Atlanta and Skybark in LA, appeared on various websites, been approached to be in movies and just generally brings gasps and smiles to everyone he meets. Not too shabby for a dog who was slated to be put down just because he's deaf! We're out to change the world's perception about "Special Needs" dogs... one Great Dane lean at a time!
Deaf but most definitely not dumb!

On this anniversary of the passing of my sweet Titan, I find that I'm still unable to write a eulogy for my boy.
While time has moved on, there hasn't been one day that I don't think about him. I miss him so much. It's hard not to be sad.
But I promised myself this would be a day of celebration of this gentle soul who touched so many. I was blessed to have shared my life with an angel, and want to share some of those memories with you.
I hope you enjoy the video I created in his honor.

First of all, a big THANK YOU to everyone for all the love & support! Many friends have written us about the controversy surrounding the World's Tallest Dog debacle, wanting the 411 and looking for ways to help.
For those of you who don't have the skinny on the scandal, visit my blog at www.titanandfriends.com for proof that 'giant' George is less World's Tallest Dog and more World's Tallest Fraud.
Staged photos aside (although the latest photo of George sitting on the couch with a platform under his front paws to make him look taller is rather telling) the bottom line is that 'giant' George isn't as tall as claimed. Make no mistake, George is a handsome dog. But his TRUE shoulder height of 39 1/8" doesn't qualify him for the World's Tallest Dog, let alone the Tallest Dog Ever.
Please visit our blog at titanandfriends.com. Learn the truth and spread the word!
Thanks for your support of a fair competition!

Well, after months of planning and not one but two official measurement events, your truly has been named the World's Tallest Dog by the Guinness Book of Records!
Though Mom loves to throw a good party, she really intended on having only one measurement party. Unfortunately, I had a neck spasm at my first measurement and although I hit the mark Mom didn't get good video of my achievement. Sooooo... after a brief chiropractic session we did the whole thing all over again the following week, complete with the requisite media coverage, and confirmed my original measurement of 42.25" at the shoulder! I actually came in taller, so my vet suggested I get measured again when I turn five years old. Who knows, maybe I'll break my own record!
Until then, we're all enjoying my achievement... not just for me, but for the attention my being named World's Tallest Dog has already given to special-needs and rescue dogs everywhere! Mom has several charitable plans already in the works that will help people and their pets, and I'm spreading the word as a Canine Ambassador... spreading the news about deaf and other special-needs dogs, canine epilepsy as well as showing the world the joys of sharing one's life with a BIG 'ol Great Dane!
However, it's not all work, work, work. We've also been having a great time! I've appeared on the Today Show, the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, Fox5 News and KUSI News! And I've been getting lotsa love... and sharing the Great Dane lean and lapdance... everywhere we go!
Mom has put together a web site for me at www.titanandfriends.com where she's written my story and uploaded lots of pictures. Coming soon will be information on deaf and other special-needs dogs as well as tips on how you can make a difference for animals in your neck of the woods and around the world. Please visit my site and show some love by leaving a comment on my Guestbook!
