Arrival Story:
Shane was scheduled to be destroyed at the Pomona Animal Shelter because they couldn’t adopt him out. All Retrieval Rescue Foundation (ARRF) rescued him and because of his behavior problems they also couldn’t adopt him out. His foster mom Janet decided to donate him to us because we had joined a two year program called Leashes for Living Assistance Dog School (http://www.leashesforliving.org). For the first three days he was the perfect dog, but then his behavior problems started to show. To keep it simple they were; Bet You can’t Hang onto My Leash, no-No-N0 that’s not a dog toy, Guess what’s in my mouth and Doggie Wrestling Madness!!! It was clear that Shane loved people and he was a spooky smart dog that had developed some very bad habits such as establishing rank through aggressive play.

Bio:
Shane excelled in class and is very quick to pickup new behaviors. He has passed his Canine Good Citizenship and Public Access Test with no problems. Shane’s Training Group 10 classmates are: Rainbow - Belgin Malanois & Lab mix, Raisin – Labradoodle imported from Australia, Sierra – Golden Retriever, Lass – Great Dane, RP – Golden Retriever, Oakley – German Shepard. Shane graduated 2/21/04 and has earned the following Special Skills; Human Animal Bond, Retrieval One and Retrieval Two and Retrieval Medical Equipment. Over the next year we plan to work on the other eleven skills he can earn. You can follow his progress on www.ontargetdog.com. We’ve have moved to Wasilla, Alaska and have started agility training. Shane really enjoys it and it’s great because there aren’t any dog parks up here.
