Thanksgiving Tag

My friend Cleo tagged me. I have to say 7 things I am grateful for. Then send this to 7 friends.

I'm thankful:
1) That I got to choose my family and it was the right one.
2) For my special bear and all my toys. But especially my bear.
3) For my bubba dog, Logan, who spoils me.
4) That my parents are people who love and understand me.
5) That Momma lets me sit in her lap every night - and one else does if I don't want to share her.
6) That my Daddy lets me sleep in the bed with him after Momma gets up for work - even if it's just a few minutes.
7) That my parents saved me from being my mother's replacement and bred by a BYB my whole life.

Since there are so many of us in my house, we're all going to go in together as a family and only nominate 7 pups instead of 7 pups each.

Here are our choices, in no particular order:

1) The Brat Pack
2) H & E A Pair-A-Dox
3) Jett
4) Duke
5) Levi, PAWS
6) The Kurowskis
7) Mickey

*sigh* It's good to be me...

I've been tagged....but I'm cheating

Here are the rules of the game: Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

Shh...don't tell, but I'm cheating. Since so many pups are getting tagged over and over again, I'm only tagging one pup instead of 7.

I've been tagged by my brother's girlfriend, Jezzy and a cute pup named Logan.

1. I'm really quite shy and don't care for other people or dogs outside my own pack.

2. I HATE wearing clothes and run off to sulk every time Mom puts something on me.

3. I cry when Mom and Dad take Logan somewhere with them and leave me by myself...I don't want to go, I just don't want him to leave.

4. I think Jezzy's brother Toby is the cutest pup EVER!!! *sigh*

5. I like to sneak into the house with a bug in my mouth, drop it on the carpet then roll around on it. Mom hates that...

6. I follow my Mom everywhere and wait for her to sit down, then I jump up on her lap and won't move until she makes me.

7. I hate the camera flash and run anytime Mom tries to take my picture.

The 1 pup I'm tagging is Bennie http://www.dogster.com/dogs/494303

Mom and Dad have been very strange lately. They keep talking about some dog named Peaches who might be coming to live with us. Logan says they did the same thing before I came to live here and that I should get ready. Pffft! I keep telling him that since they have me, they don't need any other dogs. He says I'm in for a rude awakening...we'll see.

They say this Peaches is another chi but is older and a little smaller than we are and that she was abused and abandoned. She was found in a water-filled ditch with a wire protruding through and wrapped around her jaw. She was sick with kennel cough, half-starved and not spayed. A shelter worker asked for help from a rescue to give her a second chance and they found one in this area. That's who Mom's been talking to lately. They say this Peaches is almost over her cough and got spayed yesterday and has all her shots now so she's almost ready to meet us. Mom says it'll be a long car ride and she knows I hate long car rides, but that I have to go anyway and just deal with it. Hmmpf!

Mom and Dad had a talk with us and said that they love us more than anything and they think they can love another just as much. They said we'll need to be nice to her since she's been through so much and that she needs a nice place to live. If we really, really don't like her, then Mom and Dad say they won't keep her but will let the rescue find her a better home. When they put it like that, it makes me feel bad 'cause I know this is the best home ever.

So I guess we'll try this out but I can tell you now that I'm not giving her my bed, my toys, my blankets or my food so if that's what she's lookin' for then she can keep on lookin'! Oh...and what's Logan's is actually mine, so she can't have any of his stuff either. If she can live with that then maybe she can stay...every princess needs a lady-in-waiting, after all.

PS-Mom hasn't done a Dogster page for her yet but there's a pic of her on Logan's page if you want to check her out.

A sad day...

Today we lost our last little gerbil brother, D'Artagnan. Momma and Daddy are very upset, especially Daddy. Although D'Artagnan was over 3 years old, it was unexpected...he was active and seemed healthy until the end. He looked very peaceful, like he was asleep. Because he had no symptoms of illness, they think it might have been a heart attack.

We lost his littermate, Shadow in April of this year. He'd either gotten pneumonia or went into renal failure. D'Artagnan had skin cancer surgery about that time so Shadow going first was unexpected. Mom's glad that D'Artagnan didn't suffer like Shadow did. Now they're back together, sleeping next to each other like they always did. They're buried side by side in the flower bed in front of our house under some large decorative rocks. D'Artagnan's name will be added on the big rock next to Shadow's name tomorrow.

Momma and Daddy have decided not to get any other small animals. The short life span is just too hard to take.

Rest in peace, boys. Have fun at the bridge until we get there. We love and miss you.

The Princess and the Pea

Hello, all. If you've seen the pictures up above that show me sitting on top of two beds...well, there's a story to that. You can see the beginning of it on my brother Logan's page. Check out his pictures. Of course, you can read his side of the story in his diary, if you like.

See, he started this thing where he takes his bed and mine (yes, mine) and stacks them up on top of each other, then slithers in between them like a rotten little sneaky snake and takes a nap, leaving me NOTHING to lay on. I mean, who does he think he is...I'm the one with "Princess" in her name.

It's been driving Mom and Dad crazy to know how he does it because they're stacked up perfectly. He never lets them see him...and really, I wouldn't either if Iwere him...it's quite comical what with his tiny little legs and all. But I digress...

Finally, this morning I decided that I'd had enough. I let him stack them up and just when he was about to get in between them, I POUNCED! I jumped right up on top of the entire stack, claiming it for my own. Well, wouldn't you know that Mr. Tattle-Tale whines and runs to Mom. But I didn't care, I just let him. And you know what...Mom came into the room and laughed!! She said, "Oh my beautiful darling princess, you're so clever...making him do all the work and taking it away from him so he can't enjoy it. You deserve it, sweetheart so sit back and enjoy." Then she took pictures of me in my moment of triumph!

The best part is that Logan was absolutely beside himself, completely indignant and fuming! It was glorious...

My Tail of Devotion for Daisy

Daisy,
It was your eyes that spoke to me, haunted me day after day until I finally met you. Your picture touched my heart...so much so that I neglected to truly consider the impact your presence would bring to our house...how much it would affect Logan. The time since I brought you home has been difficult...Logan changed in ways I never expected, ways that have broken my heart, at times. And though we considered finding you another home, agonizing over the decision, we could never do it...those eyes, so sad, so loving.

You knew before we did that we are your true parents. The moment you hopped into my lap, you knew...even without meeting your daddy. You are part of our lives, now and always. Even Logan has now come to accept you, missing you when you leave, watching for your return. Although your eyes still look sad at times, I know when you truly are happy with us. When you flop your little head onto my chest, sigh your contented sigh and drift off to sleep, my heart melts. Thank you for being our little girl, our little cat-dog...our princess.

This is a special Tail of Devotion

Mom and Dad let me out to pee before bed last night and I got into something I shouldn't have. When I rolled over on my back playing a bit later, they noticed a bright red ring about the size of dime on my inner thigh with a small puncture in the middle of it.

Mom immediately thought ringworm until she saw the puncture. There wasn't any blood or anything and I wasn't in pain but they got dressed and immediately took me to the emergency vet clinic - luckily it's only a few minutes away. My regular doctor works at the clinic on her nights off but wasn't there last night. Mom would have felt a lot better if she had been.

They diagnosed me with a "toxic spider bite". They say it could be a brown recluse, a black widow or one of a dozen lesser known toxic spiders - there's no way to tell. I was running a temp of 103.6 which concerned them a lot. I got IV fluids, an anti-inflammatory shot, an antibiotic shot and paid meds. And they gave us a week's worth of stuff to give me here at home. Luckily they let me come home instead of admitting me. Mom had to stay home today so she can monitor me and take me in quick if I get worse.

They faxed a copy of my records from last night to me regular vet and I have to go to them on Thursday or Friday to have them check it out and see how I"m doing. Mom has to put hot compresses on the bite for 5 minutes every few hours or so but I don't mind it - I sit very still until she's done and she tells me I'm a good girl and I get a treat. Logan is very jealous but then he gets a treat too...no fair since I'm the one who got bit but Mom instists.

So far I seem to be doing ok. But you pups out there be warned...there are some mean critters lurking out there in the grass. Dad's planning to go prune the heck out of the bushes I was playing under - that's the most likely place for the spider to have been. Then he's going to put out some stuff to kill every creepy crawly critter in our whole back yard so maybe this doesn't happen again to me or to Logan. Muwha ha ha ha ha - take that spiders!

Oh my dog, what a month!

It has been just crazy around here!

First, my mom's baby sister decided that everyone else was right and that if you have no skills, no education, no solid work history and no car then you really can't make any money in an area that's 2000 miles away from your family and in a bad economy. Sooo, she all of a sudden decided to move back here and go to nursing school. How long that will last, who knows?

Then, my mom's other sister burned her house down. No one was hurt and they saved most of their stuff but the house is a total loss, so now we have 4 extra people and 2 extra dogs living here. Luckily, Dad is allergic to the 2 dogs and they're big dogs so they don't get to stay in the house so at least I don't have to share my food or beds like the people do. And I'm getting lots of extra attention, so I'm kinda liking this whole thing. Especially when the children give me table food behind Mom's back! YUM!

In the middle of all this, Logan turned 2! Boy is he old! Since I steal all his toys, I got some presents, too. He can have as many birthdays as he wants if I keep getting toys like that. Mom says my birthday is coming up soon so we'll both get even more toys. YAY!

Mom and Dad are sadbecause one of our gerbil brothers got sick and died a couple of weeks ago. With everything else going on, they haven't had time to post anything about it. Shadow either got pneumonia or went into renal failure...it's kinda hard to tell with little guys like that. The doctor thought he might make it but he was just too little and had lost too much weight. He had just turned 3 years old. Now D'Artagnan is all alone but he seems to be taking it well. D'Artangan had a tumor a few weeks back but had surgery and seems to have come through it ok. Shadow died just a little bit after D'Artagnan recovered from his surgery. Mom says these things are to be expected with gerbils get to be 3 years old...that's like 15 in dog years, ya know.

Now that I've typed all this out, I'm very tired...I'm going to see if I can find a quiet place to nap...

Permanent Princess

Despite Logan's best efforts, my place as princess remains intact and I am here to stay. I've been to puppy kindergarten and graduated with flying colors...ok, well maybe not quite that well, but that's just our little secret. They had a mini-agility course set up for the last class for all of us to try. I didn't like the tunnel at all but finally did it when they made it tiny and Daddy gave me lots of treats to go through. I like the plank but who wouldn't like getting a cheesy treet every few steps? Daddy did a great job showing off my walking on a leash when it was time for our "final"...I watched him the whole time, walked on the left and got my treat right on time...even the trainer was very impressed.

Momma says I'll be 5 months old tomorrow and eligible for obedience classes now that I'm old enough to pay more attention. But it'll probably be next month or so before we do that...we're going on something called a trip next week. I'm not sure what that is but Logan says I'm not gonna like it. He says we'll be in the car for a looong time and that I'll get sick. Then we're supposed to sleep in a strange place? Not likely. Then Daddy will go to a meeting and Momma will go shopping and leave us alone in that strange place all day long while people we don't know will come in to clean? That's all just too wierd for me...he must be lying. He likes to scare me like that.

Momma's been getting on to me today for chewing up stuff. She says I'm teething but all I know is I want to chew on cardboard and pillows and stuff. I just now got in trouble for chewing on the desk. Momma says it's back to PetSmart for another chew toy...yay!

Off for toy shopping!!! TTFN
