When, Winny, Wendy, Batface, Tiger, Mittwoch, Onsdag...

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-mutt-pound dog-dog rescue

August 5th 2000

Playing with her sister Bela, going for walks, squeekie things, eat, suck on her soft toys, chase squirrels, go to the dogpark, hump her dogbed, sleep under the covers...

Right now: Strangers. She needs alot of work and patience, but it's slowly getting better...

Favorite Toy:
A rubber egg with an alligator baby in it (she's had it her entire life), a gutted out octopus with squeekies in the arms, the orange dog (R.I.P.), The leopard snake (R.I.P.), her fake fur dogbed...

Favorite Food:
Greenies, Mr Pugsley cookies, Pupcorn, anything we are eating...

Favorite Walk:
Through the West End to the dog park...

Best Tricks:
Down, catch, drool, paw, spin, crawl...

Arrival Story:
I found her on She was at the Animal Rescue League in Worcester, MA. My husband was working in the area and went to meet her and brought her home that day...

She was in a home for 5 years, they suddenly decided that they didn't want her anymore and dropped her off at the local shelter. She has definately been abused, both verbally and physically, and has never been properly socialized. When we got her she was a nervous wreck, but she's setteling in... She is is very frightened of strangers and might nip if you approach her when she's not ready, but she is super sweet and cuddly when she gets to know you... We are training with her every day, lots of patience, consistancy and yummy treats, and she is already showing alot of progress... It' s gonna take a long time, but with hard work and lots of love she will eventually become a happy, balanced dog...

Forums Motto:
My bark is worse that my bite...

So, thursday morning we noticed that Wen was limping, and discovered that one of her middle claws on her back right paw was almost completely ripped out, standing straight up! Poor thing...
So we had to take her to the vet, wich is her absolute LEAST favorite thing to do in the whole world!
Arriving she was barking her head off (she's gotta show the m who's boss, right?), and we had to muzzle her, then the nurse wraps her in a towel (while wearing large leather gloves, just in case) and rolls her over on her back on the table. At this point Wen is throwing a full on temper tantrum, snarling, screaming, snorting, snapping and spitting... This is pretty much as bad as it gets...

Well, she wears herself out pretty quickly, and does really good under the circumstances. She let them remove the rest of the nail, clean it up, shave it and wrap it up...

So now she limps around with a cone on her head, and she hates our guts. But only for another day, then it's coming off and she doesn't have to bump into things anymore...

Moving further along...

So, letting people pet Wednesday at the dogpark has now become a regular thing! It is not everyone, or even everyday, but her tolerance level is so much higher, and the barking, huffing and puffing seems to be more out of habit than actual stress anymore. It's kinda half-assed and she gets over it very quickly...
She even let a young boy pet her the other day, which is huge since she's generally very stressed by children...
AND she let a couple pet her while on the leash, which she has never done before either!

It's not miracle work, and she still has off days when she's more stressed, or barks more, but the impreovement is amazing, and we're sooo proud of her...

Good dog!

I'm just so proud of little Wednesday! Today at the dogpark she let a lady pet her and later she let a man pet her and she licked his face!
She has come so far...
