If you've been reading my diary, you know that I went to the Bridge on Friday, 6/26. One of my very dearest friends posted the following about me...I wanted to share it and thank Willie and his human with all my heart. It helped my Mom tremendously and made me feel extra special.
I am doing well and watching over all of you with my super big smile. Believe it or not, my smile is even bigger in heaven. I have taken excerpts, so my apologies, Willie. Much love to all, Mamie
****
Are there Tinkle Trousers in Heaven?
My beloved southern belle pal, Mamie, 15, will be making the journey to join her brother Benny who died in the same house fire Mamie survived on [Friday].
Her mom, Denise, will give her several days of royal treatment before having someone come to her home to assist Mamie on her final journey.
Mamie was a Christmas present arriving with a bow around her neck at 1.6 lbs. and was immediately loved by all.
She has two sisters, Gwen and Violet who love her and assist her as she is blind.
Mamie was the pup who started the POTP in 2004/2005 in a group we were both in called 10 years or older. As you all know, it has since become a loving symbol to each of us and even Dogster has made rosettes and zealies showing the POTP.
Mamie led the Electric Slide dance at my wedding feeling the vibrations of the music on her paws.
Mamie recently joined many of us in Squeaky and Fuzzy on a quest to rid the world of demon squirrels terrorizing many states. Although blind, she used Loki's famous nut-thrower with precision forcing the devils back into the deep woods saving many lives from peril.
Mamie has always been known for her beautiful smile, huge heart, compassion and joy of life.
As Mamie grew older, she began wearing and making tinkle trousers a fashion statement and was seen strutting the streets of Georgia looking quite fine. Many fashion houses wanted to hire Mamie as their model for them but she wished to remain at home with her family.
Benny will be waiting to greet Mamie ...as she struts to the Bridge wearing her famous tinkle trousers and smiling widely.
Please give our beloved Mamie, the POTP which meant so much to her and has helped so many thru the years. She is leaving us all a wonderful legacy to pass along.
You have been a wonderful pal Mamie and I will miss you always but you will furever remain in my heart. I wish you a beautiful week and safe journey to your brother. (Mamie 179949)

Mamie peacefully made her way to the Bridge on Friday, June 26, at 5:10 pm. She was in my arms and was assisted by our compassionate vet, Dr. Janine, and her assistant Leona. It was very hard, but she is at peace now. I have just read all the tributes and am terribly touched. We are OK..but it is hard. I might be away for a few days, as I need some time. Gwen and Vi and I are together.
I thank each and every one of you for thoughts, prayers and POTPs. Some of you planted or gathered flowers in her memory. I will get around to thanking everyone personally when I can, but I may be delayed.
Miss Mamie Penny was so loved. She is now with Blixa, Stormy, Duncan, Sadie, Hayley, Bandit, Little Bit, Ricki and many others. And of course she is reunited after 5 years with her dear brother Benny.
Blessings to you all...Denise

I continue to get rosettes and pmails and POTP from lots of furs. Thank you all so much. And Sarge has started a stroll for me, too. That is very touching. Willie and Autumn have posted in the forums as well. And I was made Bud of the Week in the Navin and Buds groupThanks for getting the word out...all of the thoughts are helping mom as well.
An update...I'm getting special foods. Steak (yum), sweet taters (double yum) and I got some scrambled eggs with my kibble last night. I feel special and will go to the Bridge with a fat belly.
Love Mamie

With the help of the vet I have decided it's time to let Mamie go. She declined quite rapidly cognitively and I don't want her to have to go through more agony. I have the name of a vet who will come to the home, and she is highly recommended by some friends and my vet as well. I am going to call her this afternoon when I have the gumption and make an appointment for Saturday morning. I'm told this vet is very compassionate and very spiritual and is a wonderful person to assist Mamie to the Bridge. I want this last week to spoil her rotten and spend quality time with her.
I don't know how much I'll be able to be on Dogster this next week...it's already hard and I've spent all weekend crying. So, if I don't respond or post, know that we are OK, just trying to manage.
We would gratefully accept any prayers, thoughts and POTP. Miss Mamie actually started the POTP craze with a post she made on the 10 years and older group. So, with that being said, she would be especially appreciative of POTP.
At least we have Dogster/Catster to help us during this time; otherwise, I'm not sure I'd know how to cope. We have already received numerous rosettes, zealies and Pmails. Thanks so much. I have not been able to get back to everyone but will when I can. It may be a while.
Much love and gratefulness to all of you...both human and furry.

What kind of ice cream are you ?
Seamus tagged me—here is how to play. Here we go......
I am going to tag five friends and tell them what kind of ice cream I look like. Then you tag five friends and tell them what kind of ice cream you look like! Sprinkles count too!
OK, I bent the rules a little and am going to come up with a name of ice cream that I would like. I am going to tag 5 friends and they tag 5 friends and they will do the same. You can either tell what kind of ice cream you look like or bend the rules like me and give the name of the ice cream that you would have (sorry, Seamus, thinking outside the crate, here!)
My ice cream is…Chocolate Chip(munk).
I tag...

Wow! DOTW. Now, I've never been known to be a particularly humble pup (it's all about me, after all), but I never in a million dog years expected to be chosen Dog of the Week! I'm honored. I've had so many notes, rosettes, PPRs from friends and strangers alike, that I can't believe it. Dogster is a great place (and Catster, too, for all my kitty friends).
Mom, my typist, is extremely busy right now, so she can't get to thank everyone personally as fast as she'd like. But she will, I'll make sure of it. In the meantime, thanks, and I'm off for a nap. Fame is exhausting.

For the past several months I have been dealing with incontinence. Mom tried piddle pads (I wouldn't use them), doggie diapers (I wouldn't wear them and would chew them off), as well as lots of other stuff. We were at our wit's end. I was ruining all the rugs, and mom knew that I just couldn't help myself.
So, as a last result we got on the internet and found Tinkle Trousers (www.tinkletrousers.com). They are great! They come in all sizes, for girl dogs, boy dogs, and even kitties. They are like a vest/harness and you attach a diaper or Serenity pad on the inside.
Although it took me a while to get used to putting them on and wearing them...and mom many tries to figure out all the straps (she's not very coordinated) but it's great! They work wonders, and I don't mind them at all. They are actually very stylish...and my dog walker says I look like I'm suited up with a parachute!
So, I wanted to tell you all about this great product, in hopes it will help my senior friends out. I already have some doggie pals who are going to buy them based on my experience.
Mom is going to take a picture and post it on my page....as soon as I will sit still long enough to have one taken.

Arnold
Hi, all. I'm showing my age. Aside from my other problems, mom found a lump yesterday on my spine. She is very scared. We're getting it checked out right away...hopefully it's ok, but it still makes her worry.
Already I've gotten support from lots of doggie and kitty pals. That is very heartwarming, and I love you all for it!
My very best kitty friend Arnold wrote a poem for me. Thanks Arn. I love you.
Mamie....
My doggie pal Mamie is sick.
She's Southern, but is not a hick.
She's thoughtful and sweet
with a smile you must meet.
She makes my internal clock tick.
Please purr that she'll get all better.
Maybe drop her a little short letter.
Admire her smile,
linger a while,
Love her like I, without fetter.

Hello, I've been love -tagged by JR. The deal is:
--Identify three other Dogsters that I love
--Tell them and the world why I love them--send a rosette and/or pmail telling them they are chosen
--My chose love tags will then do the same with three dogsters they love.
Here goes!
First of all JR was one of my first pals on Dogster. He is now at the Bridge, but he is still watching over his pals here. JR et moi, nous parlions francais ensemble--he let me practice my French with him. He remains a very special boy in my heart. Thanks for the love, JR.
All of my friends are my special pals from the 10 years and over group. What a great bunch of seniors! You younger doggies don't know what you're missing.
I also choose 2 for 1---my friends at the Bridge, Bandit and Hayley . I made friends with them on the 10 years and older group--before either Bandit and Hayley got sick. We enjoyed the good times and helped each other through the bad times. They were some of the first doggies to embrace my little essay on the Power of the Paw a while back; they spread the word all over Dogster and even had PoP bracelets made and sent me some. I love them dearly, as well as their Earth Pack, including Scout, Ellie Mae, Sugar and Rusty Pooh Bear. Bandit and Hayley are good friends with my brother Benny, who is also at the Bridge. I know he loves them as much as I.
My next pal is my friend Willie. Willie. Willie and I bonded and helped each other through the loss of some dear friends. Willie always has kind words to say, and is also very funny and encouraging. He spreads love throughout Dogster--he is everywhere, it seems. He is a special little guy. Since I'm little, too, that makes me love him all the more.
My other pal is my buddy Trigger. Trigger was also one of the first pups that I became pals with. Although he lives far away in Sweden, we still keep in touch. He's a little guy, too, like me. He has such a sweet spirit and truly loves life--as you can see in his picture. He's also very stylish and quite suave in the Italian and Swedish styles.
I'm thankful for these friends, as well as my other Dogster friends. Thanks everypup!
Mamie

Hey, all. I've been tagged again by Sailor (whoo hoo, Sailor).
Since I'm an old lady and have gotten lazy at this age, I'll just re-use my list below. Thanks, Sailor.

Wow! I’ve been tagged two times—by Freddie and by Bandit!! How exciting. Here are seven things about me:
1.I was an unexpected Christmas present to my mom in 1993. Boy was she surprised!
2.I make a grumpy sound when I am annoyed. Mom says I sound like a gator, whatever that is.
3.I have an underbite, but I think it’s charming.
4.I am the boss of my sister Gwen. I mean it. Really.
5.I was in the January 2006 issue of the The Bark magazine for my winning smile.
6.I once jumped up on the dining room table and ate he entire contents of a fruit basket when mom was at work (I’m only 12 pounds—that was a lotta fruit).
7.I have a curly tail (that’s the pug in me). It uncurls completely when I’m asleep.
Talk to the Paw!
I choose to tag:
1. Hayley
2. Arnold P (he’s a kitty, but I love him)
3. Spring
4. Trigger
5.Wyndrunne
6. Sissy (and her kitty sister, Jazzi)
7.Sarge the Lab

So, I haven't written in my diary for a while. You wanna make something of it? Well, if so, Talk to the Paw!
Yup, I've been a busy gal, napping and eating and demanding my way. It's tiring. Mom says I must be good or else Santa Paws will leave coal in my stocking. Phooey! (I'd probably still eat it!). Guess what--I'm my same old same old self--even at Christmas time, and I've always gotten stuff from the heavy set guy--regardless of my behavior. Lemme tell you something, pups--don't let those bipeds hose you--Santa Paws will bring you stuff no matter what! Why? Because you're dogs and dogs rock!
Enough said on that one. I hope all or your doggie dreams come true this holiday season. And let's remember those who are sick, suffering, homeless, and who have gone to the Bridge.

To The Mamester! I'd grown up with dogs, but Mamie was my first on my own. She was an unexpected (*very* unexpected) Christmas gift, showing up late on a Sunday night with a bow around her neck. A cute little bug-eyed thing! Everything I'd wanted in a dog...Mamie was not: hyper, persistent (ok, obnoxious, really), domineering and headstrong. But sweet and affectionate (when she wanted to be) and very, very smart. You could never shame her--while most dogs when scolded will pull their ears back and slip their tails between their legs, Mame would boldly stare back, turn around, and walk the other way--as if to say, "I don't give a @#*!" Of the many lessons dogs teach you, Mamie taught me patience (boy did I need it at times).
However, I adore her, that 12 pound dog with a 100 pound dog attitude. She's lived through a lot with me and through it all, was a constant (sometimes in-your-face) companion. I firmly believe that the only reason she survived a house fire (which her brother did not) was because of her feistiness--that's why she's still here. If I had lost her as well, I don't know what I would have done. I wouldn't change her a bit (I never thought I'd hear myself say that!).
My Miss Obby-noxious is now aging and blind from cataracts, but she's still as headstrong as ever. She greets a bump into a wall with the same "I don't give a @#* attitude, and I love her for it. It's hard to watch her age, but when it does come time for her to go, I know she will have lived a great life being herself every day of her existence. Thanks, Mamie! Love you! I've been channel surfing tonight, albeit unintentionally (or, so Mom thinks). I was on the couch with Gwen and Mom (I got the best spot, naturally), and WHOAH--my paw touched the remote. Mom took it back and said, "Mamie, I'm trying to watch the news. I want to know what's going on in the world!"
Yaddah, yaddah, yaddah. So, she changed it back and put the remote back on the couch. I got comfy and rolled over on my back, hit the remote, and changed the channel again (hee, hee!). Mom called me Smarty Pants and changed it back.
Then I went to jump off the couch and did it a third time (that got their attention). Hee, hee. I was looking for the animal planet, but it ended up on Antiques Road Show. Gwen just rolled her eyes, sighed, licked her lips and went back to sleep.
You may have heard that the one who controls the remote controls the relationship. Well, it's true. I'm in control. It's all about me. You have a problem with it? Talk to the paw!
Happy surfing! Mamie

Well, I'm late in writing this, because the event took place several months ago. However, as I am Mamie, it doesn't really matter about being late, because it really is all about me.
I was featured in the Smiling Dogs section of the winter 2006 the Bark magazine. Yep, my smiling mug, the one on my dogster website, was featured prominently. I got some dogmail from my buds, which was really cool. And I see other Dogsters in the mag, too---I take pleasure in their success as well (though that is a bit contrary to my nature--because it's all about me).
It's hot here and Gwen is being foolish by going outside and chasing squirrles and chipmunks when it's 90 degrees out. I know better. Give me a nice spot on the couch and a Kong and I'm good to go. If you try and bother me in my repose, you'll have to talk to the paw.
Ciao, pups!

Yes, and she didn't even know who it was from or if it was for me or for Gwen. I don't want anyone to think I didn't accept their request or that I'm a rude doggie (Gwen isn't either), so if the doggie that sent the request sees this, send another.
Silly mom!
Big woofs to all! Mamie and Gwen

Heh! The handyman was here all day yesterday. Of course I impressed him with my shrill barking. Barking when he drilled, barking when he hammered, barking when he walked around. Barking for the sake of barking. Loud and shrill. The louder and shrillier the better! I'm proud of myself.
Mom and Gwen disapprove.
I have four words for them: "Talk to the paw!"

It really is. *ALL* about me.
Gwen has been bugging me to write a diary. Diary schmiary. Why do I need one? I know she writes about me sometimes in hers. Of course she does--because it really is all about me. Gwen is typing for me as I dictate. I am visually impaired, but see--having her type also keeps me in the dominant role--I dictate to her, she types, I reinforce my position as the Queen. Very simple.
Gwen says I have a tude. Well, yeah. Duh. So get over it. Talk to the paw!
Nobody seems to care that that skier guy Bode Miller has an attitude. He's famous for it. So, why is it such a problem with me, I say?
I'm just like Bode Miller. Except I can't ski. And I'm a dog.
OK, Gwen, let's sign off now. I'm taking a nap. I'm getting the best nap spot on the bed. (Hee, hee, hee).
