Arrival Story:
My previous boy and I thought that a friend that would keep him company and I thought a puppy would do us good and get us active. Found an ad in the paper and met some puppies. Sierra and her sister were separated from the rest of the litter and Sierra was the puppy that followed the breeder out of the room. I knew that knowledge of who Mom was would transfer to me and chose her. I was right she is loyal to me almost to the point of separation anxiety, that is why I needed to get another brother for her when my boy passed. It was very hard for her. Today she is happy with her routine and brother if I am around.

Unfortunately, Sierra is the product of backyard breeding. She is the sweetest dog you could ever meet but is afraid of her own shadow. I started her in puppy classes from 10 weeks old but I did not understand how to deal with such a timid puppy. I have since learned but Sierra is still recovering from my mistakes and has difficulties with too many new and different situations at once. She has taught me that there is alot more to personality than how a dog is raised. She is trained to novice level obedience and agility but hates crowds and public spaces so we practice at home where she feels safe. Due to her timidity and fear she at times actually seems to suffer from some strange canine version of ADHD and cannot focus on anything despite what I do. She is getting better since I have been understanding her needs and I hope she continues to improve with time.

A Day in Sierra's Life

I wish the best for the stray

Well Prince Charming already told you about our week but he didn't tell you that Mom said the stray has something called heartworm and that it is a fatal disease(shiver). I don't wish any bad on her I want her to go into a new family and be as loved and lucky as we are. Heck even Bongos has a home--it's in Florida and Mom says he may be here awhile. I tried to tell Mom that this girl was no trouble for me but she gets weepy as she tries to explain that the heartworms are too expensive for her to treat. She says that is why we always get our heartworm pills and that this stray did not have a mom or dad that loved her enough to give her the pills. Well I do wish that she gets a name soon all us dogs deserve a name. It is a mark of being loved by our human and a badge of honor. Mom says that this stray will love the new family that gives her a name and keeps her safe. I will pray to the Doggie God that she gets all that she deserves.

Mom seems sad

Mom sent those irritating puppies away. She said she asked for help but no one would help her and she felt overwhelmed. She told me and Prince C. that we were very lucky and the puppies went to doggy jail to see if anyone would adopt them. I hope so because she says if they don't find a new home they will have to go to the Rainbow Bridge. They're just babies and as annoying as they are I don't wish them any harm.
Mom says she will never deal with a private rescue again. She says she has given thousands of dollars in money and supplies to different rescues and when she needed help they would not help her or even return her desperate phone calls. Mom says she is beginning to believe that they call themselves rescue to recieve money and you need to know someone for them to help you. She still cries over this and I hope she goes past it . I keep trying to help by throwing toys at her. We'll see.

A day in my life.

Today was a typical mommy go to work day. Ho-Hum. First we make sure mom knows the sun is up. She throws a towel at us so we bark from the door(that always gets her up). She lets us out for the potty while she gets dressed. She takes us for a game of fetch at the empty lot down the street. then we have to go into our crate. This really nice lady named Laura comes to take us for another walk. When mom comes home she does stuff around the house while we try to get in the way so she has to pay attention to us. Then everyone to sleep. A bit tedious but there you have it. A Day In My Life.
