Leave a bone for Evie

Nicknames: Evie Lynn

Quick Bio:
Likes: Her momma :) Evie's very attached to her momma, and the ability her momma has to throw the ball for her.

Pet-Peeves: Evie does not like it when her brothers catch the ball that was meant for her to catch. Yet, she only pouts for a second before she just goes to find another ball....

Favorite Toy: Tennis balls. We have so many between her and her brothers that they are constant obstacles on the floor.

Favorite Food: Boiled chicken. Evie's momma gives this to her when her stomach is upset and she just LOVES it!!

Favorite Walk: James Island County Park. Evie likes to chase the ball across the large expanse of grassy field, and she likes to play with dogs smaller then her. The big ones tend to scare her.

Arrival Story: Evie was my first rescue. Evie came into my life when my Tori was 4 years old. I decided that Tori needed a playmate, or she simply would not be happy, so I found a website online - carolinacockers.org - through this discussion board I had for a class. I went to see the rescued cockers they had, and both Evie and Mr Cool stole my heart. It was hard choosing between the two, so I let them choose for me and Evie chose me. Evie came from a hard life at a puppy mill before being rescued, and she needed a lot of help. Evie needed socialization, a lot of love, introduction to noises and big scary things, and a cherry eye surgery. She had no idea what purpose toys had, and that humans can offer more than anger and loud noises. It's taken well over a year, but she has slowly changed to a new dog. She plays with lots of toys now, which was the biggest accomplishment I feel I have ever seen in an abused dog who formerly didn't know what to do with toys. The first day she actually took a rope bone from my hand (which is what I used to entice her to play with it some, then super-praised her when she carried it off) I took tons of pictures to send to the rescue. It was a wonderful day.

Bio: Evie is my angel. She is a momma's girl, and a lot of people don't understand her. She is very afraid of a lot of people, especially big scary men. She will sometimes pee herself when a stranger reaches out to touch her, and some humans don't understand why she would do this. We've done a lot of educating to people about puppy mill dogs, and it's because of her that they know more now.
Evie came into my life 2 months after my mother was diagnosed with a cancer that would take her life, only 4 months later. Evie proved to be an angel and was there for every tear I cried. She has always been there and I hope she always will be.
Evie is the reason I am now in rescue. After I saw the way she changed and became the happiest little thing, I knew I could do that for more dogs. She is an angel sent from above.
