Arrival Story:
Tauri was adopted on August 15, 1997 - just a day before her brother, Tucker's second birthday. She and he fast became best friends. I often wondered what on earth I had gotten myself into, bringing two cairns into the house - let me tell you, it was never dull around here with the two of them!

Bio:
Tauri had a lot of problems when she became a mature young dog- she would often attack Cinder, who was getting up in years, and for awhile I was not sure I could keep both dogs under the same roof. After a lot of behavior modification, Tauri and Cinder were able to live under the same roof, although they could only be together with supervision. Tauri is not a healthy dog - because of her puppy mill beginnings, she has many genetic health problems, including chronic ear infections, chronic skin problems, thyroid disease, and entropion of the eyelids. About a year and a half ago, Tauri was diagnosed with pituitary Cushings disease. Because of this, she is enormous, although she really eats very little and does exercise on walks and in the backyard. But even though she has had so many medical problems to deal with, she has remained sweet and loyal. While Tauri used to be aggressive with other animals, she has never been that way with humans. Anyone can do anything - medically, or anything else - to her and she will sit quietly and allow it. My 21 month old neice pats her and hugs her and calls her "Nice Toeey" She is truly in heaven when she is with small children. Tauri has been very depressed since her brother, soulmate and best friend on earth passed away. She misses Tucker so much. It is so sad to see her check his bed every day when she wakes up and before she goes to bed. When she goes outside in the yard, she always turns and waits for her brother to come out behind her as he always did. For 8 years he was always there - she just doesn't understand where he has gone and why he is not coming back. Her heart is breaking.
