Quick Bio:
Likes:
Being with people, jumping all over you when he shouldn't, licking moisturiser off his mum's legs, getting into places he shouldn't, chasing the cats.
Pet-Peeves:
People sneezing and coughing as it makes him jump!
Favorite Toy:
Cuddly Leopard which was with him in the basket on the ride home from the breeder. He hasn't let it go since.
Favorite Food:
Malteasers (chocolate with honeycomb in the centre) and ice lollies. He likes eating the crusts off toast and will lick any plate that's given to him. He's also very partial to yoghurt, noodles and chocolate mousse. He eats quite a lot of grass too!
Favorite Walk:
Through the long grass though he's only got little legs and does tend to fall in holes.
Best Tricks:
Shaking hands and waving though he's not impressed if he doesn't get a biscuit afterwards! Also he actually blows his nose on tissues or your trousers if there isn't a tissue handy!
Arrival Story:
Having suffered from mental illness for a number of years my parents and I thought that getting a dog might help to bring me out of my shell and get me out of the house for a few minutes a day. Lan Ping cost me all my savings but when we went to pick him up from the breeder's I knew that he was the Pug for me.
After we had him we discovered he had a very small trachea which meant that he found it difficult to breath and when he caught pneumonia at about 9 weeks old he almost died. Thanks to our vet Jo and the lovely specialists who took care of him he has pulled through. He has other health problems associated with Pugs, including a luxating patella (a knee joint that dislocates occasionally) and Entropion (eyelashes that turn inwards and irritate the eye itself) but he doesn't let any of it get him down. He snores, snorts and passes wind from both ends just like every Pug does and we love him even more because we know how lucky we are to have him.
I'm not all that much better now but I feel better knowing that I have a puppy who can love me and will always be there to cheer me up. He makes me laugh and always has a kiss for me. I couldn't ask for a better friend. Lan Ping, I love you.
Bio:
In the pictures to the left, I'm the one with brown hair and our mum Vanessa is blonde, holding Lan Ping when he was very little.
He comes from Afterglow Kennels in Blackpool. His sire was Migang Carlby For Patsang and his dam was Afterglow Ruffey Dimples. Are any of his brothers/sisters out there? His grandad on his dam's side is American/Multi Champion Sheffield Shenandoah who I looked up on the internet and he's a very handsome pug indeed (though I think Lan Ping is the most pretty!)
UPDATE: Lan Ping has found his sister Lola May! We're very excited and hope other family members might get in touch!

I haven't been on here for ages! Well not too much has changed. I'm still a "Filthy Mongrel" as I'm called here and all my family are still around, even Peter Pan the cat who was 20 in May.
Peter Pan sleeps in my basket in the kitchen when I'm not in there but he complains if I want to get in to go to sleep. The cheek of it! But he does warm it up for me which is nice.
Last week I hurt my eye and also got an ear infection. On Monday Mum took me to the vets and I got eye drops and a squirty thing for my ears which I don't like. I let Mum put drops in my eyes though as I trust her and she won't hurt me. I was very miserable on Monday and Tuesday but the last couple of days I've felt better.
Anyway, big woofs to all my friends!

I've finally found a new food that I can eat whenever I can find it...cat poo! Lucy and Mummy were totally disgusted by me when they saw me eating it but I like it a lot and there's no shortage of it in the garden...

Today I came home after two days away. I've been at the vets that helped me when I was very little and had pneumonia, not my regular vets. On monday I had an operation to make my nostrils bigger and also to cut away some of my soft palette so I can breathe more easily. I was a very brave pug and didn't cry or anything.
All I have to show for it are two stitches in my nostrils which my mum says look like pretty little bows. I also have stitches in my windpipe and am learning how to breathe through my nose as I couldn't do that much before.
I hope it'll make breathing in the summer a lot easier as I don't like the hot weather much and last year had to have oxygen at the vets to help me. But this year, I have new nostrils!
