Arrival Story:
Butchie Boy was hanging out just outside the dog park when I came from walking my three. Luckily, he was cool with other dogs, so I got a leash from a friend and took him to my yard. I tried to put him into Pitbull Rescue, but they were full, and shelters around here put Pitbulls to sleep. So he became my foster. After several months of trying to place him (I only got calls to take in yet another Pitbull), I gave up and called him mine. And, boy, is Butch worth it. Affection is the word with Butch.
Bio:
The first night in my house, I hooked Butch by a 6 foot leash to the headboard of the bed to keep him from going off to pee in the house (wasn't sure if he was housebroken yet). His first response was to jump in bed.
"Off!" I commanded, and pushed him off the bed. He then turned around and jumped right back up.
"Off!" I commanded again, pushing him off with my legs since he was so adamant to stay. I did this a total of 6 times, and after the sixth time I just said screw it, and turned away to go to sleep. Next thing I know I've got a Pitbull, his head on the pillow next to me, sort of spooning me.
It was an odd moment. I thought to myself, I never pictured myself in bed with a Pitbull. And then my next thought was, Hmmm, this is kind of nice. Butch is quite the charmer. :-)
