Arrival Story:
A friend in town told us that she was at Southern AZ Humane Society thru an Elkhound Rescue website. We took one look at her and knew that we were in for more expensive Petsmart trips. It must have been fate because our finicky male Elkhound took an immediate shining to her.
Bio:
My name, Leilani, is a Hawaiian name. After my parents decided on a Hawaiian name for my little brother (their first pup), they decided to keep with the tradition and give me a Hawaiian name, too! And my name fits me perfectly, because it means "heavenly child", "royal child", or "heavenly flower" in Hawaiian. All of these meanings represent me. I am such a happy little princess who loves to be petted and lives for evening walks. And I cause the least amount of trouble in my house. My only bad habits are barking like crazy when it's time to go for a walk, and trying to get beyond barriers (e.g., backyard fence and dog barrier in car) that stand in my way of what I want. I'm petite for an elkhound, weighing in at only 39 pounds, but I make up for my petite size with my bubbly personality. My mama and papa can't imagine why any family would have given me up! But they're just glad that someone did, so that I was able to come into their lives!
