Leave a bone for Socks

Nicknames: Socksie, Big Boy, Fatso

Quick Bio:
 Birthday: October 5th 2000
Likes: attention from Mom, walks with Mom, chest rubs

Pet-Peeves: Ferocious!, the vet, cats

Favorite Toy: rawhides

Favorite Food: table scraps

Favorite Walk: somewhere where there's enough water to swim or at least get wet

Best Tricks: rearing up on hind legs and waving paws in the air to beg for attention or a walk

Arrival Story: I found Socks close to our house, and he actually had a microchip, so we called the owner, but she never came to get him. She said he'd been gone for 2 weeks, and that he kept digging out of her yard. Socks has never tried to dig out of our yard. Because we give him ATTENTION! Her loss. He's a beautiful, happy, wonderful dog. I love him dearly.

Bio: Socks is afraid of thunderstorms, baths, and firecrackers. He would never admit it, but he's also afraid of our neighbor's mastiff.

Forums Motto: Socks--I rock!

Hi, this is big friendly Socks. Well, I'm friendly to everyone but Ferocious and some other male dogs that might be bigger than me. Like the mastiff that lives across the street. I wonder if he's really a dog. I should ask my mom later. Now, I'm a big boy...stocky and muscular. But I heard my mom say that next to the mastiff I looked like a kitten! Oooo, I don't like being compared to a cat. That hurts a chow chow's feelings! Well, I'm not all chow chow. Mom is convinced I'm half chow/half retriever. She thinks my previous owner is a doofus for giving me up. Well, to tell you the truth, I wasn't very happy at my old place. They sure liked me when I was little, but as I got older for some reason they didn't spend much time with me. Just left me in the backyard. So I kept digging out, and the last time I dug out I wandered for 2 weeks, and then MOM found me. She thought I was Moxie at first!! ha ha...I fooled her. I turned around when she yelled, "Moxie!" and the look on her face!! She was so nice, though, and you know what she did? She said, "Come here, you big boy," and I hesitated. I didn't know WHAT to think. But she just waited patiently in her car, and I trotted over to see what she wanted. Well, I felt the A.C. blasting from her open car door, and know what I did? I jumped right in her car!! She drove me to her house and gave me lots of water and food, and I just collapsed in her garage and rested. Two weeks is a long time to be on your own! Anyway, she took me to a vet to see if I had a microchip, and sure enough! I did. The vet called my old owner and you know WHAT? She didn't even want to come and get me. And she lived right down the street from the vet!! The vet was soooo surprised, and he told my mama, "It looks like you've got yourself a dog." And that was my happy ending. I love my mom and dad, and they love me. I'm workin' on loving Ferocious. Ooooo, he gets on my nerves, that little pipsqueak. He can go on and live with the rabbits outside. ha ha ha
Gotta go.
Luv, Socks
