Nothin' but the Best

Officially Obedient

Charlie graduated from obedience school on wednesday. One of the requirements of graduation what to do a trick in front of the class that was not taught in class (for instance, "sit" doesn't count as a trick). We tried to teach Charlie to "shake", but he just didn't catch on it time. However, he has learned how to dance on his back paws and spin in a circle (while trying to reach a treat of course). So for the classes viewing pleasure, Charlie danced a little ditty. I was nervous since in class he gets easily distracted by the other dogs, but for graduation he was able to pull it off. We still have a lot, a lot, a lot to work on, but we now have the skills to practice. Kelly and I couldn't be prouder of our little guy.

The Greatest Accomplishment

This weekend we have come a long way with Charlie. For the first time ever, he waited at the back door for my fiance' Kelly to let him out instead of just running to the basement or to our roommate's bedroom to go to the bathroom. Potty training has been a hard process, but Charlie's starting to learn that going outside isn't just to play with the neighbor dog Mo.
Thank goodness! I don't think you could find two happier humans as Kelly and I were when this acheivement happened. We are soooo proud of Charlie! And I don't think Charlie could have been happier either since he was tremendously praised with petting and treats. He hasn't gone to the bathroom in the house in 3 days....a new record!
