eta: GOOD NEWS UPDATE - Juno and Puppy are Missing in Metairie, LA (near New- Orleans)

January 31st 2010 11:38 am

UPDATE: Feb 19, 2010 Juno and Lucy were recovered from the St. Tammany Parish Dept of Animal Services in Abita Springs ONE hour away from where they went missing. Thanks to a tip from a Craigslist poster that saw them listed on Petharbor.com

JUNO and LUCY's family is frantic with grief and very concerned for their health and safety. They are missing in a VERY high traffic area. Both dogs are VERY friendly, but may become skittish the longer they are on the streets. One sighting was in someone's backyard. By the time the owner arrived, the man (not the caller) had "scared" them away because he has cats :(

If you don't mind, please take a moment to help spread the word to anyone who lives in the Metairie/New Orleans area. Share Juno's page link, message, or flyer on Dogster, MySpace, Facebook, retweet on Twitter, blogs, and anywhere you can think of. You never know when a friend may know someone who lives or travels in their area. Thank you for anything you can do to help!

Dear Santa Paws

Santa Paws, our stockings are full. Will you please help some of our friends?

Hope and Sweetie and many others are lost. Make sure all are warm and safe. Help them get back to their loving families. Oh, and don’t forget Blue is still out there too.

Groups like Pittie’s Place are doing extraordinary things to fight injustice and prejudices. Four very young puppies were saved from euthanasia last week and each needs a place to call his/her very own.

Our NOLA projects Buster and Nibbles still need forever homes.

There is one other special pup who has been in jail most of her life. She has been pardoned for the ignorance of her former “owners.” Guide her safely to her final destination as soon as possible. She deserves a good life.

Santa Paws, you know where our milkbones are. Please give them to ALL the homeless, losts, and shelter animals EVERYWHERE!

♥ da Gang

we revisit a poem from 2 years ago...

A RESCUE PET'S CHRISTMAS POEM

'Tis the night before Christmas and all through the town,
every shelter is full - we are lost but not found,
Our numbers are hung on our kennels so bare,
we hope every minute that someone will care.
They'll come to adopt us and give us the call,
"Come here, Max and Sparkie - come fetch your new ball!!
But now we sit here and think of the days
we were treated so fondly - we had cute, baby ways.
Once we were little, then we grew and we grew,
now we're no longer young and we're no longer new.

So out the back door we were thrown like the trash,
they reacted so quickly - why were they so rash?
We "jump on the children, "don't come when they call",
we "bark when they leave us", climb over the wall.
We should have been neutered; we should have been spayed;
now we suffer the consequence of the errors THEY made.
If only they'd trained us, if only we knew,
we'd have done what they asked us and worshiped them, too.
We were left in the backyard, or worse - left to roam,
now we're tired and lonely and out of a home.
They dropped us off here and they kissed us good-bye,
"Maybe someone else will give you a try."

So now here we are, all confused and alone,
in a shelter with others who long for a home.
The kind workers come through with a meal and a pat,
with so many to care for, they can't stay to chat,
They move to the next kennel, giving each of us cheer,
we know that they wonder how long we'll be here.
We lay down to sleep and sweet dreams fill our heads,
of a home filled with love and our own cozy beds.
Then we wake to see sad eyes, brimming with tears,
our friends filled with emptiness, worry, and fear.

If you can't adopt us and there's no room at the Inn,
could you help with the bills and fill our food bin?
We count on your kindness each day of the year;
can you give more than hope to everyone here?
Please make a donation to pay for the heat
and help get us something special to eat.
The shelter that cares for us wants us to live,
and more of us will, if more people will give.

Update: April 30, Bailey was returned safely to her family.
The next day she went to the vet and it appears she was injured while she was missing. Her mom thought she was walking a little funny because of her arthritic knees, but X-rays confirmed 2 herniated discs in her back and one possibly ruptured. She is currently on antibiotics and steroids, but may need surgery. Please keep sending Power of the Paw down to Bailey in Florida!

----------
Bailey, Chief Joint of Staff is a very dear friend and one of our first pup pals. We met when her family checked to make sure we were okay right after hurricane Katrina in 2005. They have always been generous with their time and donations to help animals in need everywhere.

It is very possible that someone has Bailey and may be trying to keep this sweet girl or does not realize she is lost. She is desperately missed and NEEDS to be with the only family she has ever known for 12 years. Bell is offering a substantial REWARD for any information leading to her return.

We Are Feeling BLUE!

November 24th 2007 2:50 pm

Blue, a black and white Siberian Husky (4 year old male, brown eyes, microchipped) has been missing since May 8, 2007 from Brighton, MI.
Dogster page: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/620507
Website: http://whereisblue.com
E-mail: inform@whereisblue.com
Telephone: (313) 550-6095
Reward offered for his return, no questions asked.
Permission and gratitude for cross posting. Thank you!

A letter from Blue's owner:

"Blue" has been missing since May 8, 2007. Someone, somewhere HAS to know something about his whereabouts. He can't have vanished into thin air. I have done nothing but look for him for the last 12 weeks and I don't know where to turn anymore, so I'm begging for your help. There is a large cash reward for his safe return (NO QUESTIONS ASKED) or for information leading to his safe recovery. There are really only three possibilities. If you can help with any of these, please contact me asap (contact information below.)

1. Someone has him. Maybe they haven't seen the TV reports of the hot air balloon search. Maybe they are not in an area where the thousands of flyers have been distributed or have seen any of the posters around a 10-15 mile radius of Brighton Twp. It has been 12 weeks and after all, he could have gone much further than we think and someone could have taken him in as a stray. Maybe a long distance driver picked him up so that he wouldn't be hit by a car on the streets and he's not even in the area anymore.. Please email this notice to everyone you know, regardless of where they live. He could be in Montana or NY by now so please send this link to everyone in your email address book. Tell everyone you know about Blue. Even though his name is Blue, he does NOT have blue eyes. He is black and white and has brown eyes. He is microchipped, so anyone, anywhere can have a veterinarian scan for a microchip and even if he is halfway across the country, he can be identified. Please send this email to everyone in your address book, we need to get the word out in a much wider area than we have originally concentrated on and I really need your help to do so. Send it to everyone, even non dog people - please....

2. He could be dead. You might have hit him when he ran out on the street in front of you - that would not be your fault. Or if you're a farmer, he might have gone after your livestock and you shot him - you would be perfectly within your rights to do so. Even though I would be heartbroken, please let me know if either of these things have happened. It is better than wondering and worrying about him. I need closure. I need to bring his remains home so he and I can both finally be at peace. If either of these things have happened, please email me at codeblue@woofgang.com and let me know where he is so I can go and get him and bring him home.

3. He is still out there running loose. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is the case. He's a very smart dog and could probably figure out how to survive on his own. There have been so many sightings, and while we know some of the dogs were not him (we were able to track some down) we don't know about all of the sightings. There were plenty of sightings last week in the Hartland area and we know that the found female is not the same dog in the cell phone pictures and we know that another escaped dog is also not the same dog based on timing. If you see a Siberian Husky running loose and you think it could be him, please call me asap at 313-550-6095. Timing is everything - if you call me a day or two later, he won't be in the same area and I'll never track him down. If he is still running loose, he's probably not going to go to anyone, but will run and hide if you try to catch him, so the best thing to do is to call me immediately with a location so I can get out there or get one of the many wonderful volunteers who have been helping me, out to that location as quickly as possible. Please don't email with a sighting, call me right away! 313-550-6095

There are so many people who are helping me look for Blue. There has been so much spent in time and gas and $ for flyers and posters and ads and the hot air balloonists and power parachute pilots who donated their time and equipment - if you know anything about where Blue is, please, please let me know so I can thank everyone for helping me and not continue to make requests for help which will be fruitless. I need to get my boy back home, one way or another, I really need him home.

Thank you for reading this far - the last three months have been horrible and I so much appreciate everyone who has helped. Please go to the following link to see pictures of Blue: http://www.yukonwindsiberians.us/bluephotoalbum.htm and my cover page for a beautiful head shot of Blue: http://www.yukonwindsiberians.us/

Can Dogsters pull off another Miracle?

October 9th 2007 7:27 pm

We believe .... we believe! Now cross your paws! Remember the Christmas miracle of 2006?
The incredible rescue story is at Cutest Dog Ever. 6 beautiful chow/shep puppies were not wanted because they were females, but their 2 brothers were supposedly adopted. The extremely shy girls escaped being sent to a high kill shelter in Kansas because Dogsters quickly rallied together to save them. Our pals Lea, Luna, Letta, Loki, Lena, and Lainie each have wonderful homes all the way in Iowa and Ohio now. Well, a few days ago, Riley from the 6-pack’s crazy rescue team saw Levi on petfinder sitting in that very shelter in Hutchinson, KS. He looked so scared. We are pretty convinced he is the 6-pack’s brother. Go check him out! NO WAY were we going to let him stay there. Can you believe Riley’s mom is driving from Nebraska Sunday 10/14 to go rescue him? He will be available for adoption. We think we are going to lend her our FEMA trailer – hee hee. Seriously, this story would not exist had it not been for the continued determination and help of MANY Dogsters.

There’s more .... another dog at the same shelter caught the crazy rescue team’s hearts.
Uncle Buck is a handsome but skinny, sad looking fellow just waiting for a furever home. His chances are very slim in Hutchinson, so we are waiting on word from a GSD rescue to see if they can provide him the care he needs and deserves. Riley’s mom says “ she can easily fit two dogs in her car so she might as well take as many from a kill shelter as she can!” Levi and Uncle Buck will be out of that Kansas jail Sunday. Where they will go after that is still pending, so if you know anyone that can help foster or wants to adopt either of these handsome dudes, let us know?

So once again, da Gang is wishing upon a star! We know that with the support of our pals, Levi and Uncle Buck will be safe very soon and on their way to furever. Check for updates at Cutest Dog Ever.

UPDATE November 23:
We just received news that Uncle Buck is doing great! He is in his furever home thanks to German Shepherd Rescue of Central Colorado. Meanwhile, back at Dogster, LEVI has a new page and is settling in very well with his family! He is "Plus 1" of the Kansas 6-pack and now lives with his sister Lainie and her woof pack Mellow and Caelen in Ohio. Did Christmas come early this year or what?
Thank you to everyone who helped save 2 more precious lives - the crazy rescue team could not have pulled this off without your support!

PLEASE be on the lookout EVERYWHERE dear pals!

RECAP of CHEYENNE’s heartbreaking story:
On April 7th she was at Love & Care Pet Salon in Tukwila, WA. Can you imagine getting THIS phone call....” COME QUICK - your dog just jumped out the (second story) window and we can't catch her!”?!? Her family was there within minutes of the call, but Shy Cheyenne was gone, running scared, and still missing after 3+ long months. Her family has done EVERYTHING imaginable to find her! See detailed list on her page and at craigslist under Pets AND Lost&Found - keyword Cheyenne.

There are MANY small things you can do to help from near and far! Come join us at Cheyenne's Group to help ALL lost animals .

Missing pets in Western Washington - Please check it out! Myspace Lost Pets in western WA

----------------------
***IF SEEN PLEASE REMAIN CALM and call *contact info removed - PLEASE DO NOT CHASE - but do try to KEEP HER IN SIGHT and slowly follow her if possible until help arrives!

IF YOU CAN APPROACH HER - get down on her level - even sitting or lying on the ground - do not act as if you want to catch her as this will most likely make her run and she is very quick
- speak softly using her nick name SHY-SHY as well as STAR and DUKE - entice with FOOD if possible ... WANT A TREAT? - WANNA GO HOME? - LET'S GO SEE STAR ... etc.
- PLEASE READ Think Lost NOT Stray Article for more information on how to approach a shy skittish dog- - She has always been shy since she was a pup.

Cheyenne likes to go for walks in PARKS and along RIVERS/LAKES. This
King County bike MAP may be helpful for those out walking your own dogs and/or searching.

IF SEEN WITH SOMEONE ELSE - in a car, in a yard, on a leash, etc ... PLEASE CALL WITH INFO - License plate, address, location, etc...

*** Keep in mind that she has been missing over 3+ months and REALLY COULD BE ANYWHERE by now and may look slightly different even though there have been recent "possible" sightings!!!!
